I received the sharks yesterday. They are very good!
Just, what a shame the great white is not bigger...

tbh the claspers and the size of them suggest it's a sub adult male

Polar bears!

Some are reused moulds OF THEIR OWN sculpts. Not terribly accurate but... new!

Yet some of their sets are... let's say total misses:

Supposed Madagascar set

I had high hopes for what they called a Madagascar set...

Not bad. I like the center top adult (sitting, looking up).

There are essentially two kinds of Toymany sets. Those that use original sculpts and those that use sculpts from other brands (whether bootlegged or a formal agreement between the companies was made, I do not personally know).

That 'Madagascar' set is an example of the latter. As is this interesting deep sea/ancient fish set:

Agreed. I don't enjoy the copied figures (bootlegged or purchased moulds aside) as they usually look like a downgrade in paint application at the very least. Their unique sculpts though, a few I admit aren't the best, but they do have some rather nice items.

I like the same polar bear Blaine. I can't see the link to the Madagascar set, the fish one has been tempting me but I have so far resisted because I think one or 2 are copies and not well replicated...

Also, I just find it encouraging that they have been releasing sets of unique products with some regularity. Maybe they will discontinue the copies if they find success in the unique sculpts. But of course, who knows. For now, I enjoy lots of their products amd have been keeping tabs on them.

Does the Madagascar link work for anyone else? It doesn't for me.
I like turtles.

Yeah there are like three things in that set that are in Madagascar (maybe the Nile croc, too, I can't remember). But the 'Schleich' boa is South American  8)  C:-)

SerAndrew

I received the penguins today.
They are all very good and will keep them all (even replace my previous representatives).

EpicRaptorMan

I contacted ToyMany and they said the penguin set won't be available for the US until November. And that they would notify me when they're available.

Really looking forward to the Yellow-eyed Penguin. Also finally be nice to get an Adélie.

bmathison1972

I wish I could get the yellow-eyed solo! I have the Yowie Group version but Toymany's looks nicer!

Sim

I'm happy to hear the penguin set will be available to those in the US too!  It's a great set.

I'm thinking of getting the Toymany shark set but I'm curious to know what the lines on the underside of some of the shark figures are?  I haven't seen them on a shark before.

Saarlooswolfhound

Oh that is great to know! I will snag one it up once its available.

@Sim, I am not sure other than maybe midlines on them. Hopefully someone will know more than I.

bmathison1972

yes the line is a ventral midline; it can show up as a crease in the skin/tegument.

Thanks!  I've ordered the Toymany shark set!

Are these figures knock-offs?: https://www.amazon.com/TOYMANY-Realistic-Figurines-Birthday-Toddlers/dp/B07RT33X57?th=1

The guitarfish looks identical to Schleich's, but I'm not sure any of the others are knock-offs.  The sailfish looks almost identical to Chap mei's except for the rear underside fins looking smooth.  I'm interested in the blue shark, but it too doesn't look identical to any figure I compared it to.

Some are. The seahorse is also a Schleich model
