@Isidro - Couldn't agree more! Was shocked how good the sculpt and paint was in-hand for that price! But yes, they are larger figures, on par with standard Safari and Collecta releases.

@JimoAi - Thresher does have nostrils, not painted but there are two subtle indentations- didn't even realize the Safari one lacked that until you pointed it out!

Front-on is certainly not the model's best angle haha ;D

@sphyrna18 - Indeed, really like the dynamic pose, especially compared with the more static Safari version. Really looks like it just detected something in the sand and is snapping towards it!

@bmathison1972 - That is so annoying, I hope they are not gone for good since it's an incredible set that I hope more people can get! Looks like that link still goes to the same product page on Amazon, however one of the "Style" options is missing; I think this one was labeled as "Shark Figure 1", but now that is not an option. Fingers crossed they still sent you the shark set and didn't substitute it for another set  :-\

When I click on my order details, it goes to this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B096P4KCSW/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

although the thumbnail on my order confirmation, the description, and cost all still are based on the set of 8 sharks

the option for shark set 2 is still there, so I'm guessing shark set 1 will be back soon, especially as it probably sold out with the recent excitement
it probably just redirected the link automatically to whatever the first "style" option is

although shark set 2 is mostly not sharks...

Alopias superciliosus

Yes, exactly- it probably just defaulted to the "style" options that are still in-stock. When I go and click on my Amazon order, it redirects to the same page. I think if you bought it when it was still an option an in-stock, you should still be getting the set. You'll have to report back and let us know though!

And yeah, I found the naming for "Shark Set 2" strange... only one shark there lol...

Saarlooswolfhound

I noticed this set went out of stock shortly after the presented set, well... was presented. ;) I am sure they will be back in stock soon (I hope to get one also).

JimoAi

oh crap then I better cancel my order for now

Alopias superciliosus

@Saarlooswolfhound - I don't know how much credit I can claim for that lol, but if so, I'll try applying for a position on Toymany's marketing team  ;D

@JimoAi - When you ordered, did it still show the correct shark set? If so, it's likely you are still getting the right product. Idk, maybe when @bmathison1972 order comes in he can confirm

@Alopias superciliosus: I didn't mean to blame you at all! If anything I am thrilled to see the market encouragement for this brand. :D

I wouldnt worry about it being the wrong set if its showing the right thumbnail photo. And if it comes and its wrong then you should be able to return it easily.

bmathison1972

I just got a shipment delay notification, and it showed the correct thumbnail and description but the link is still wrong. My guess is when they ran out of shark sets, the link was reset.

tried to cancel, but Amazon is unable to because it's about to get shipped so pray that I get the right set. I've ordered just yesterday shortly after the review photos came around

@Saarlooswolfhound - I didn't think you were "blaming" me at all! I'm flattered that my pictures may have been a draw for some :)

@bmathison1972 & @JimoAi - Fingers crossed you guys get the right figures! And if not, I'm sure you'll be able to return and that the figures will come back in stock  :)

JimoAi

my order has been shipped. Fibegrs crossed!

JimoAi

update: the Toymany sharks are back instock

Saarlooswolfhound

Hurray! I will snag a set on my next paycheck. :D

bmathison1972

My sharks arrived today and they what they are supposed to be LOL

And definitely replacing the Safari blacktip reef with this one (somehow replacing a Safari shark seems blasphemous, but here we are).

If Toymany keeps producing original figures of this quality and price, then they are going to go far in our hobby! And they must have a US distributor, as mine have come in about 48 hours after ordering!!!!!

Great to hear you got the right figures! And yes, this set has really got me rethinking a lot of my Safari sharks for my display; definitely also doing the Toymany Blacktip Reef and Bonnethead, but may also do the Pelagic Thresher and Bamboo Shark??

Great quality, good species selection, incredible price, and speedy delivery (mine came within 24hrs of ordering!), 10/10 for me!

Happy they are back in stock, hope every shark fans gets the chance to get a set!  ^-^

Safari will always be the archetypal sharks to me. Even if more dynamic or anatomically accurate ones come out I'm sticking with them, and will continue to buy any new shark species they come out with.
I like turtles.

Me too, for the most part. I had no intention of replacing the Safari blacktip, as I only bought the set for the sawshark. But since I have the new blacktip...

may want to keep the Lemon as it may be used to represent the Sicklefin lemonshark

I think it's pretty unique that so many of the species of sharks are sculpted as males.  While only Bonnetheads show true sexual dimorphism amongst sharks (other than size), it is still interesting to me that Toymany went the extra step of sculpting claspers.  But not on the Bonnethead, which is good because, if I'm not misremembering something, the Safari Bonnethead is most likely based on a juvenile male, given the shape of the head as well as the size and distribution of the secondary fins (and lack of claspers).  The Toymany gets the shape of the head and distribution of fins correct, it appears, for a mature female.  Unfortunately, it does make it a bit harder to use as a Scoophead Shark, but not entirely out of the realm of possibility.

Did I see claspers on the Bambooshark as well?  No matter, a minor error that is easily overlooked.  And given the price of these sharks, it would be a great figure to repaint possibly as an adult Bambooshark, a White-spotted Bambooshark, or even possibly an Epaulette Shark.  The sky is the limit!

This is a really great looking shark set.  No, in my opinion these don't unseat many of Safari's sharks; however, Safari has struggled slightly with some of the Requiem Sharks over the years (looking at you, Bull Shark!).  Their Blacktip Reef Shark sculpt is nice, but it is nowhere near as realistic as many of their more recent sharks or their Monterey Bay Aquarium figures.  Likewise, their Lemon Shark is a little rough (definitley too square), especially compared to beauties like their Sandtiger Shark!  I would like to see them update some of their shark figures, and I'm sure they will when they've sold sufficient numbers of the current molds to justify it.  In the meantime, it seems Toymany is willing to step up to the plate and take a swing.  So while I don't see any need to replace figures (I'm not into buying just one of a species if I like more than one figure of a species I will have more than one figure of that species), I think those of you that do only collect one figure of a species will have some tough choices going forward haha. :o  :))
