Well, here we are. Another “Savanah Summer” draws to a close. Nights are drawing in and temperatures slowly drop. But we have time for one last review from the African plains. And we look at one of the speedsters of the savannah: the Gazelle, curtesy of AAA.

As it is only referred to as a Gazelle, we need to discern species. The nature of the antlers and pattern of the pelt, it is clearly a Thompson’s Gazelle (Eudorcas thomsonii), the most common gazelle in east Africa and the fourth fastest land animal in the world, behind the cheetah, pronghorn and springbok. Let’s see how AAA did with it.

The pose is simple, looking around, perhaps alert as a predator is scented on the breeze. In fact, the pose is very familiar, as it is the same as the Fallow deer they produced. I feel this is another example of AAA replicating a model to create a different species, making small changes. Fortunately, it still works well without anatomical issues. It is a reasonably large model, being 4.1″ long and 4.9″ high, perhaps too big for some lines but not horrible.

Altogether, this is a lovely model, which does stand the test of time reasonably well, certainly worth a consideration at least. It is discontinued at this point, so online retailers are your best bet, eBay specifically. This concludes another “Savanah Summer”! Hope you’ve enjoyed this journey through various fauna of Africa. Here’s to another next year!
