Ana

Beautiful dolphin indeed :) What's next animal to guess?  :D

brontodocus

So I hope postsaurischian will show us a new one, soon? :)

postsaurischian

Sorry for being late :-[.

Here's a new critter:

brontodocus

Hey, that's apparently a Kowari, Dasyuroides byrnei! Somehow I knew you'd post an Australian animal. ;) ;D

postsaurischian

 :D He, he ..... you're right -- of course.

brontodocus

So here's a new one. This is the type specimen housed in the NHM in London:

Varanus

#126
Is that Chan's Megastick (love that name! :))), Phobaeticus chani? :)

Yes, of course! :) Somehow I wanted to take the opportunity to show the longest extant insect known to science. An unbelievable length of 357 mm - or 567 mm including the legs! :o And described quite recently, in 2008.

Varanus

Wow, I didn't realize how new to science that big bug was! :o

Here's mine  :):

Varanus

#129
Okay here's some hints  :):
- part of a family that is a superb example of adaptive radiation
- restricted to a single island in the Pacific, part of a larger island chain

Ana

I think it may be one of Hemignathus, Hawaiian honeycreepers. Maybe the Anianiau (Magumma parva)?

Totally correct! :D

Ana

Great :D

So here is another animal to guess :)

Ana

Hint: it's endemic to one island in the Indian Ocean :)

Ana

Should I give more hints? :)

Varanus

Is it a Golden Palm Civet (Paradoxurus zeylonensis)?

Yes it is! Congrats! :D
