updated the first post with the leopard gecko; used screen capture and then edited in Photoshop :)

I mentioned this over in DTF and thought it may be a neat idea to share here too. I have been a Safari fan for a long time and I still get excited to see their announcements, whatever they may be. I would love some sort of "prehistoric" themed extant fish fish toob OR series (whether it be their IC line proper, or a specialty line like their Marsh Education series). Maybe even a "recently" extinct series too with animals like the auk, thylacine, passenger pigeon, carolina parakeet, bluebuck, elephant bird... there would be lots of great possibilities.

But for now, I think they have a great lineup for 2023 with the Majungasaurus, Utahraptor, and leopard gecko.

Gwangi

I would love to see some "prehistoric" fishes from Safari. And since so many of them are American species it makes sense too. Paddlefish, gar, bowfin, sturgeon. I would prefer a set of standard size figures over a TOOB though. And a recently extinct TOOB would also be fantastic.

I would hope for standard size fish too (since many of these get quite large anyway), but would also appreciate a more IC style line, like their Marsh Education series.

EpicRaptorMan

I couldn't honestly care less about the TOOBs personally.

Today's reveal. Tuatara. I have a sample of this one coming so expect a review soon.

Very nice, very nice indeed

Thanks @Gwangi - I updated the first post. Safari is really all-in with the I.C. herps lately!

This tuatara looks fantastic. Again, I won't get it as I have a small member of this species, but it looks great!

Yup! And I'm all for it. Last year we got an anaconda and crested gecko, now a leopard gecko and tuatara. And they're all fantastic!

that came out of nowhere without any hype or suspense..

Good!

Saarlooswolfhound

Argh... Safari is making it REALLY hard abide my collecting limitations! I don't usually get ICs if I can resist...

Fembrogon

That is a very pleasant surprise! I wasn't aware tuataras could come in green.
We're well overdue to have this remarkable reptile represented better in the market, so I'll be sure to acquire this one as soon as possible!

Quote from: suspsy on May 04, 2023, 04:36:28 PMI do hope we get to see some modern animals that aren't part of the IC series. As I said before, I'd really like a male Asian elephant similar to the one that came in the Asian animals toob.

(Quoting you from the DTF but the conversation makes more sense here)

It makes me wonder what the relative popularity between Safari's different lines is. I would imagine that standard-sized modern wildlife would be their biggest seller, but there seem to be fewer new releases of them compared to their other lines lately.

Funny I just saw a post a couple days ago of someone...somewhere...wanting a tuatara.

It looks well sculpted but I typically Invision tuataras to be a more greenish-grey

suspsy

And now a great grey owl. Not the Asian elephant I was hoping for, but still very good. :)

First thing first, I am VERY HAPPY the Wings of the World line is still in effect! It's one of my favorite Safari sub-categories.

That being said, I am on the fence about this owl. I have the 2010 version by Bullyland and honestly I might stick with it. The painting on the face of this Safari figure seems too bold and demarcated (whereas the Bullyland owl is the opposite, almost too subtle and simple).

I'll have to think more about this. Maybe after a Blog review of in-hand pics, I'll have a better idea of my intentions...

I got a review sample for this one and will be posting a review of it early next week. In the meantime, I will post in-hand pictures of all three here on the forum today, once I can get a handle on this crying baby.  ::) Personally, I am quite pleased with and impressed by this little owl figure.

The bold face paint looks great to me. And accurate.

the white is accurate...but in that promo pic it looks 'overdone' to me, like cake frosting!
