Hi, I am from Malaysia and new around here, I noticed that most of you are figurine collectors. Are there any plush collectors out there like I do?

I am interested with animal plush that features species from my home country and often had some foreign species in my collection.

One of the newer item includes this Clouded Leopard (Nat Geo - Lelly Big Cat series)

Of the Big Cats, the Tigers are the best known for their large distribution range and charismatic features, but they are now extinct in large part of their original range. The Tiger is a popular plush item, and I managed to get a pair of rather cheap ones. There are of course many branded ones out there but I am quite satisfied with this pair. It is the national animal for my country!

And the Leopard is another Big Cat in my country, and the most widespread of the Big Cats. The ones in my country is usually black (we do have spotted ones but those are very rare). This too is not a branded item, and even have a questionable iris color (usually yellow, but rare coloration such as blue is known in spotted ones in India at least), of course we usually call the black ones Panther, although they were merely the melanistic morph of the spotted ones.

The only missing Big Cat for my country so far is the Sunda Clouded Leopard, a new split from the Clouded Leopard. The large version of Clouded Leopard in the National Geographic - Lelly Big Cat series seemed to resemble this species better, but it is considerably a very premium price item for me.

Thanks, indeed I found this forum randomly while googling for plushes and accidentally landed at the blog, so I was trying to come over to the forum and see if there are any other members here that are into plushes.

You should share your photo, you might be surprised, maybe some of them are indeed found in Malaysia! I have roughly 85 Malaysian species now, and yes, I do have a number of foreign species but I did not particularly count how many species I have.

Welcome @jytou85
I have a handful of plushes, plesiosaurs mostly, but I don't go out of my way to collect them. Finding space must be a big problem for plush collectors!?

Exactly, they take up a lot of space, but a little less than my nature books for the moment.....

8 August is International Cat Day, and cats are among my favorite mammals, I did obtained a number of cat species.

On the upper left are part of my primary collection, Malaysian wild cats, featuring the Tigers, Panther (Leopard), Clouded Leopard and Marbled Cat.

On the upper right are some foreign species, including the Lion, Cheetah and Jaguar.

The 2 cats at the bottom were souvenirs from Bosch, which was labeled "Cheetah" and given to me during my highschool as a gift. They however are obviously not having proper Cheetah patterns, and resembles patterns of perhaps a semi-leopard. A small unbranded keychain featuring a spotted cat that is barely identifiable were also included here.

I find it difficult to find Malaysian bird plush in the market as they gain a lot less attention than mammals, so I designed and made a few myself, so far only produced 4, and this is one of them, the Great Slaty Woodpecker, the largest extant woodpecker. Sorry for the poor workmanship, I still need more practice.

It's very nice, I'd buy it if it was on sale  :)

Thanks for liking it. No plans to mass produce anytime soon.

Thanks. I like plush because it sometimes felt more like a real mammal, and they are more flexible to play around with compared to fixed positions and postures of most plastic figures. I do have a very small number of plastic figures, mostly without any brands. I also collect brick animals (including a Lego set for birds)

Species diversity in plush figures is really quite incredible, even my specialty, parasites (=Giant Microbes lol)

My latest shipment from China, too bad one of the seller messed up with my order and did not sent me my Grey Reef Shark and Irrawaddy Dolphin, which is quite a pity since both are rare items to be found.
