With 100 reviews now under my belt I decided to tally up how many animals from given groups I've reviewed. In the case of TOOB and sets I am counting each species covered within the review.

Invertebrates: 17 (6 are mollusks)

Fishes: 29 (18 are cartilaginous)

Amphibians: 5

Reptiles: 17

Birds: 25

Mammals: 46

Species with two reviews: American bullfrog, great white shark, Bengal monitor lizard, Turkey, zebra shark.

Most reviewed species: Domestic cattle, 5 reviews.

suspsy

These are mine, although I suspect I'm slightly off:

Mammals: 51

Fish: 10

Reptiles: 7

Birds: 6

Invertebrates: 3

I haven't done the graphs in a while, since migrating over DTB reviews made things messy. However, I think I found a way to get the data easily, so I am bringing back these graphs!

You may also appreciate these Animal Toy Blog stats from Google Analytics. I've been collecting traffic data since the blog launched, and here's a summary of the weekly stats to date.

animaltoyblog_stats.jpg

As you can see, in terms of users there has been a gradual upward trend. The highest peak in users so far was in the week beginning 21 August 2022 with 751 users (3075 page views). The highest peak in page views was in the week beginning 28 August 2022 (3175 page views). Page views have totalled 341,091 to date and weekly views have remained pretty steady over that time. In other words, over the years we've had more users looking at fewer pages. This is confirmed by the 'pages per session' trend. Interesting stuff and shows that there's definitely a growing audience out there for the Animal Toy Blog.

It warms my heart to see fish second only to mammals. And I'll give myself partial credit for that since fish just barely edged out arthropods.

Good to see that the blog is generating more interest too. Sometimes I worry that all the effort is for naught.

Good to see that the blog is generating more interest too. Sometimes I worry that all the effort is for naught.

The Blog email periodically gets notifications from people who are following it; a lot of these names and emails are unfamiliar and probably not people active on the forums. I bet forum activity (ATF and STS) is relatively small compared to the full community of people who collect animal toys. I bet the blog is visited by more people that don't visit the forum that does.

Also, it must be showing up in search parameters better, too. My Bandai jumping spider review attracted the attention of a jumping spider specialist and your own barn owl review, Gwangi, attracted the attention of someone who makes barn owl nesting boxes :)

Oops! That's a typo on my part. Should be 4. Thanks for catching, @BlueKrono

AnimalToyForum

You should all be glad to know traffic to the Animal Toy Blog is continuing to grow, so your reviews are receiving lots of eyeballs! The blog now receives just upwards of 1000 unique visitors (and 3000-4000 page views) every week. You can see from the graph above that at the end of 2022 it was receiving 600-700 unique visitors a week, so traffic has grown substantially since then. I think this is testament to the steady output of the blogging team and the high quality of the reviews, so congratulations everyone. To put this into perspective, the much longer established Dinosaur Toy Blog gets 4000 unique weekly visitors. At this rate I could easily see ATB catching up with the DTB in a couple of years or so.

Gwangi

That's fantastic! So happy to hear that. Motivates me to keep going.  ^-^

sbell

It must be all the recent fish work. ;D

Admittedly, that's my fault...and I've got a long list still.

Great to see that traffic is growing
