Updated with the Atlantic puffin, a three-toed sloth (species???), a horse (of course, of course), and the mini insects.

The Mini Insects and Spiders box is EXACTLY what I predicted - mini versions of their standard figures. For years now, I thought if they did an insects tube, that is what they would do. But that is OK! I will still get it of course; it's nice to have a tube collection of figures identifiable (for the most part) to the species level  :))

I would consider the sloth if a new species for me

The puffin is nice, but not nice enough to replace my Papo figure

We know now that the shell was covered with tissue, so it would have been difficult to recognize a real belemnite from a modern squid.

The sloth looks fantastic, easily superior to the Safari and Schleich versions. The puffin and the bug minis are nice as well.

And I still think the horseshoe crab should have been marketed as a modern animal. For certain its future review belongs on the ATB more than the DTB.

Who cares how it's marketed, it will definitely end up on the ATB  :)) C:-) ::)

If you or @Gwangi don't get to it, then I might  8)

my ATB focus will be on the centipede, black widow, and Mini Insects however

Having already reviewed a horseshoe crab you won't get competition from me. Someone else should review this one. I'll still get it though, no doubt about that.

Advicot

It's a gorgeous sloth but not two toed, like I would of preferred.  :( I'm not the biggest fan of the puffin and like the Safari one better. Its feathers just don't look feathers but more like fur. If the belemnite was a represented as modern species what would it be? I'm asking this as I may get it if it can be identified as a modern species.  :)

Oh and the sloth looks like the brown throated, but I'm not positive.  :-\

Not interested in getting the horseshoe crab, but will definitely snap up the sloth, and probably the mountain gorilla and Komodo dragon for my boy's collection. And yes, it's definitely a brown-throated sloth.

And it definitely wants a hug.  ;D

After some consideration I'll be getting the sloth.  :)

I added the rest of the prehistorics, including the Nautilus. The rest of the extant animals should be available tomorrow (later today, forum time :) ).

By the way, the prehistoric inverts: horseshoe crab, nautilis, belemnite, Pleuoceras, and Orthoceras, these were a request by a German museum and dinosaur theme park, which means such offerings are probably not going to be a regular occurrence from CollectA. Still, CollectA has been very good to me this year and I can't complain.

Everything is now posted. Some impressive wildlife but nothing that will replace what I have.

Looks like all my CollectA 2020 purchases will be invertebrates!

EDIT: will probably end up getting the Tyrol cow and the mountain gorilla, as the latter is a new subspecies. But these two mammals will be lesser priority.

I will definitely be snapping up the mountain gorilla and the Komodo dragon. CollectA definitely saved the best wild animals for last.

In future, I would like to see them replace both their African and Asian elephants. And as I mentioned elsewhere, it would be really great if they gave us an African forest elephant.

suspsy, the way they have been remaking African animals lately, I had predicted a new elephant this year! I was wrong this time haha. [I also predicted Safari or CollectA would do a warthog so I at least got 50% of that correct]

I sure hope you're right next time. Both the current CollectA elephants really are inferior compared to the ones Schleich has put out recently. Although I do hate how Schleich gave theirs "dirty" tusks.

And I'd love to see more crocodilians from CollectA or any other company for that matter. They all seem to have done the American alligator and the Nile crocodile, but what about the Orinoco crocodile? Or the mugger? Or the black caiman? The Chinese alligator? The gharial?

Elephants are tough; my African elephant is actually the repaint of the 1997 Safari sculpt! And I think it is still one of the best!

The Komodo has great detail work but I worry the short looking tail and neck might not just be perspective.

CollectA's 2020 catalog is online now:

https://www.collecta.biz/catalogue/files/assets/common/downloads/publication.pdf

Dinosaur collectors should be pleased to see that the Microraptor has had the two missing tail feathers added to it.
