Mini North American Animals Figurine Playset (Toymany)

5 (4 votes)

Before I start this Blogpost, I must again thank @Kenc and the folks at Toymany for donating this review sample. It is very much appreciated. As with other Toymany set reviews, this is a general overview to introduce the animal toy community to the set and does not prevent others from doing more in-depth reviews of individual figures.

Mandarin Dogfish, Kitefin Shark, Japanese Angelshark, and Roughskin Dogfish (Plush Sharks Vols. 2-4 by Qualia)

I appreciate Shark Week on the Animal Toy Blog far more than I do the actual shark week programming on Discovery because the reviews on the Blog are more in line with what Shark Week should be and once was: an educational look at a fascinating group of animals, as opposed to over-dramatized, fear-mongering pseudo-science.

Cute Spider (Tarlin)

5 (3 votes)

Last year I reviewed a fun novelty set called Cute Silkworm by Tarlin. The set included four stylized figures of silkworm moths representing the ecdysis process. In 2025 they reissued that set with a slightly different color for the moths (light beige rather than pure white). Later in 2025 they produced another ‘Cute’ set, and the focus of today’s review, Cute Spider!

Farm Life Box Set, 5PCS (CollectA)

On the farm, spring is one of the busiest, most hopeful, and alive times of the year. Longer days, warmer weather and the promise of a productive year are ahead. It is a season of hard labor and great reward for farmers.

Madagascar Animal Figurine Playset (Toymany)

4.5 (11 votes)

Before I start my review I must again thank @Kenc and the folks at Toymany for sending me these review samples for the Blog. This may have been the most anticipated set by Toymany for 2025 and having had the figures in hand, it doesn’t disappoint.

When Gondwana broke up, Madagascar split from what is now Africa during the Early Jurassic, about 180 million years ago.

Cats of Osamu Moriguchi Vol. 1 (Art in the Pocket by Kitan Club)

Osamu Moriguchi is a famous sculptor in Japan. In 2007, he started specializing very realistic miniature cat sculptures. He has produced many prototypes for Kitan Club’s Nature Techni Colour line. His first cats produced for them was the Cat Magnet & Strap collection in 2012 (which interestingly was reissued just last year by Ikimon).

Insects & Spiders Tube (Mojö Fun)

4.7 (6 votes)

After recently reviewing Safari Ltd.’s Insects TOOB and having previously reviewed CollectA’s Mini Insects and Spiders tube, I decided to follow them up with an overview of Mojö Fun’s 2024 Insects & Spiders Tube. I didn’t have high hopes for this set. Promo pics gave the impression of typical bin/dollar store-style cheap insects.

Insects TOOB (Safari Ltd.)

3.8 (8 votes)

I have recently reacquired the Safari Ltd. Insects TOOB and thought I would showcase it for the Blog. There have been at least three (maybe more) iterations of this TOOB over the years, with I believe the first version coming out in 2004. At some point (I don’t know what year) Safari also released a glow-in-the-dark version of the TOOB.

Mini Insects Vol. 1 (Diversity of Life on Earth by Bandai)

3.7 (3 votes)

In 2022, Bandai started a series of miniatures in their Diversity of Life of Earth line. The first set is the one we will be looking at today, Mini Insects Volume 1. It would be followed by Volumes 2 (which has already been reviewed by Fembrogon) and 3 (which I plan to tackle later), both released in 2023.

Black Jaguars Family Playset (Toymany)

Before I begin my review, I must thank @Kenc and the folks at Toymany for providing this review sample for the Blog.

The jaguar (Panthera onca) is a species that needs little introduction. It is an apex predator in Latin America, ranging from the extreme southern USA to central South America.

Tiger Family Set (Toymany)

Before I start this review, I must thank the @Kenc and the kind folks at Toymany for sending me this complete set as a review sample. I normally save my overall analysis and thoughts on the figure or set for the end of the review. However, I was floored by the quality of these tigers!

Bluegill, Pumpkinseed, Crappie (3″ Pond Fish set Part 2 by Replica Toy Fish)

4.9 (12 votes)

And here we have the final trio of the original 3″ fish produced by Replica Toy fish, the second half from the ‘pond fish’ set. Similar to my look at the two halves of the American Angler set (here and here), the first Pond Fish set featured a range of taxonomic groups, and this second half will be all from a single family–Centrarchidae, the basses and sunfish.
