Coyote, pair (Noah’s Pals by Caboodle! Toys LLC)

In previous reviews, I have looked at Noah’s Pals domestic dogs, the dalmatian and Labrador. Time I think to look at one of their wild species. Here we look at a North American species, smaller than wolves but just as accomplished: the Coyote (Canis latrans). Living in gregarious packs, they hunt the small rodents and other smaller herbivores of the region they live in, as there are several subspecies. Let’s see how they came out here!

We start with Chad, the male. We see a very alert dog, ears perked, tail held close. Perhaps he feels unnerved or uneasy. The coat is a good mix or greys and reds, akin to many of the coyote subspecies (meaning discerning which it is is tricky). As a 1:24 scale figure, he is naturally small, measuring 1.4″ long and high. I do like the fur detailing, really works for these sometimes shaggy, sometimes fluffy wild dogs.

Next the female, Chana. She seems a little more relaxed, paw up, tail swishing. Not bad. She shares colours and details with Chad, so very well done. She is naturally smaller, measuring1.6″ long and 1″ high. Very nicely done!

Overall, these aren’t terrible, but perhaps not the best. The issue of being this small does mean the faces (especially the eyes) aren’t the best, but the detailing is great. Compared with other coyote models, they are middle ground, better than some, but worse than others. If you find them for a reasonable price, they can be worthwhile, especially for collector with limited space or collectors of 1:24 models. The choice is up to you.
