Opossum, with babies (Wild Safari North American Wildlife by Safari Ltd.)

4.8 (6 votes)

A cute and unique figure (and one of my favourites from the series) is the North American Wildlife collection figure, the Virginia opossum with babies, Didelphis virginiana Gray, 1821. With a total length of 139 mm and a snout-vent length of 96 mm the scale would be approx. 1:4 – 1:5.

White-tailed Deer, doe (Terra North American Animals by Battat)

Intraspecific competition has resulted in a variety of species evolving phenomenal anatomical features in order to sort the adults from the juveniles (so to speak). This results in many examples of male creatures being put into toy production, owing to amazing plumage or impressive antlers or horns. This does, however, result in showing the sexual dimorphism of their female counterparts, which do not receive as much attention in figure form.

Wilderness Series 1 Polybag Collection (Wild Republic by K&M International)

3.5 (4 votes)

Today I am reviewing a set of five figures I bought specifically for just one of the figures it contains. However, since I have the whole set, I might as well review all five for the Blog! Also, this will be our first review of an entire Wild Republic Polybag collection!

Impala, pair (Noah’s Pals by Caboodle! Toys LLC)

The major force behind the variety of life is the evolutionary arms race between predator and prey. Predators evolve to catch and kill, it’s prey to run or fight back. One of the major groups to have evolved a mix of these ways of prey surviving are antelopes, as they can run quickly, they have horns to fight back.

Mountain Gorilla (Wildlife by CollectA)

As its name suggests, the mountain gorilla (Gorilla beringei beringei) inhabits chilly mountain forests in a tiny section of Central Africa, at elevations ranging from 2200 to 4300 metres. Much of what we know of this wonderful ape comes from the meticulous research of mammalogist George Schaller and the late primatologist Dian Fossey, who gave her life in the service of protecting her beloved gorillas.

Red Panda (AAA)

Fame can lead to some animals being overlooked, or associated merely by their appearance. It is undeniable that the giant panda has a major cultural and global significance, which results in the red panda (Ailurus fulgens) being looked over, despite that their faces are similar, both eat bamboo and both are Chinese.

Gray Wolf, 2020 (Wild Safari North American Wildlife by Safari Ltd.)

The Safari Ltd. Gray Wolf, #100509 was released as part of their 2020 additions. It is included in their Wild Safari North American Wildlife Collection. The model itself measures as 4 inches (10 cm) long and around 2.75 inches (7 cm) tall (roughly the size of a credit card standing on its long edge, or roughly 1:9.5 – 1:12.5 in scale).

Brown-throated Sloth (Wildlife by CollectA)

The brown-throated sloth (Bradypus variegatus) is the most common of the three species of three-toed sloth inhabiting Central and South America, and also the most famous of all sloths due to its decidedly adorable appearance. Any sloth toys, sloth storybooks, sloth-themed clothing, or other sloth-themed products you’ve come across in stores are likely to be based on this species.

Bongo Antelope (Wildlife by CollectA)

Review and photos by Okapiboy

The bongo antelope (Tragelaphus eurycerus) is one of the most beautiful, distinctive, and striking of all antelopes. It is also one of the most popular zoo animals.

Finally, a large figure of this species!

So it is puzzling that when it came to toy replica, the majority of today’s top companies haven’t produced one for the mass market.

Narwhal (Folkmanis)

Perhaps the most bizarre of all living whales is the narwhal (Monodon monoceros), AKA the unicorn of the sea. This review will examining the one from Folkmanis, a company renowned for their top quality animal hand puppets. Unlike the previous plush toys I’ve reviewed here, this one didn’t come from an aquarium or zoo gift shop.

Giant Eland (Wildlife by CollectA)

5 (5 votes)

Grass has been an incredible influence on the world, and resulted in an incredibly diverse number of animals that could eat it: the grazers. Some of the greatest numbers of these animals come from the plains and savanna of Africa, with this review covering the largest of the antelopes, the giant eland (Taurotragus derbianus).

Platypus (Wildlife by CollectA)

Ornithorhynchus anatinus!!! If this animal doesn’t send an electromagnetic current of the gleeful excitement of discovery up and down your spine, then you may be an invertebrate 🙂 ! Along with the short-beaked and long-beaked echidnas, the platypus is the last of the monotremes.
