Indian peafowl (Pavo cristatus) are beautiful birds that hail from India, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. On January 31, 1963, it was declared the national bird of India because of its rich religious and legendary involvement in Indian traditions. The males are known as “peacocks” and the females are known as “peahens.” The peacocks are famous for their eyespot plumage, which they fan out to attract mates.

The markhor (Capra falconeri) is a wild goat that can be found scattered across the mountains of Central Asia, the Himalayas, and the Kakakoram. Several subspecies of markhor are known to exist, including the rare Tadjik or Bukharan markhor (C.

European Badger, 2021 (Wild Life Europe by Schleich)

4.2 (5 votes)

As its name suggests, the European badger (Meles meles) also known as the common badger or just plain old badger to those folks residing in Europe, ranges throughout the entire continent. It is arguably the second biggest land mustelid after the wolverine and its tenacity and toughness has led it to be frequently depicted in U.K.

Keel-billed Toucan (Wings of the World by Safari Ltd.)

Review and images by Suspsy; edited by bmathison1972

The toucans of Central and South America are some of the most unmistakable birds in the world thanks to their enormous bills and vivid colours. The beautiful keel-billed toucan (Ramphastos sulfuratus), also known as the rainbow-billed or sulphur-breasted toucan, is perhaps the most iconic member of this family.

Japanese Flying Squid (Nihon Auto Toy)

Hello all, today I would like to share one of my favorite figures in my collection, the Nihon Auto Toy Japanese flying squid, (Todarodes pacificus). It has been difficult to find information on this model and the company producing it, but they seem to have been sold in Japanese crane games at arcades.

Bactrian Camel (Wildlife by CollectA)

The Bactrian camel (Camelus bactrianus) of Central Asia is the largest living member of the camelid family (although the dromedary is taller). An adult male averages around 600 kg (1323 lbs) in weight, but can achieve up to 1000 kg (2204 lbs).

Crucifix Crab, small (AAA)

4.5 (4 votes)

Review and images by Bruhmingo; edited by bmathison1972

My passion as a collector is most geared towards replicas cast from real specimens, and AAA is perhaps the best known producer of such models. AAA is a rather mysterious company that produced many of our favorite cast replicas. While this means exemplary detail, it is often incredibly difficult to identify the species a figure is representing, usually due to mislabeling or an inaccurate paint scheme.

Leatherback Sea Turtle (Marine Life by Papo)

Review and images by JimoAi; edited by bmathison1972

The leatherback sea turtle (Dermochelys coriacea) is a species of sea turtle and the sole member of Dermochelyidae family. It is the largest and heaviest reptile alive today that isn’t a crocodilian (disclaimer: while many snakes like reticulated pythons and anacondas are twice the length of these turtles, they are way lighter).

Narwhal (Sealife by CollectA)

The narwhal (Monodon monoceros) is a species of toothed whale that lives in the Artic waters of Greenland, Canada, and Russia. Along with the beluga whale (Delphinapterus leucas), they are the only living members of the Monodontidae family of whales and it’s not too hard to see why.

Goldendoodle (Farm World by Schleich)

Review and images by Bonnie; edited by bmathison1972

As soon as I knew Schleich were releasing a crossbreed featuring a golden retriever I was very excited to see it in real life!

I think this is a really interesting model, as it is the first time Schleich have released a cross-breed dog officially named and in their main dog series!

African Lioness and Cub, 2019 (Wild Life Africa by Schleich)

African lions (Panthera leo) are by far the most social of wild felids thanks to their practice of living in groups of around 15 to 30 individuals, commonly called prides. The males, with their greater size and distinctive manes, occupy themselves primarily with defending the pride against intruders.
