Ooh I can't wait for the megamouth shark, it's so beautiful.

GojiraGuy1954

Need to get that Megamouth, and the Goblin Shark from last year too.

Alopias superciliosus

Such a lovely megamouth!! They really nailed the open mouth, which I prefer to the closed-mouth pose of the Safari and Naturalism. And love that the reflective white band was included!

No wildlife or extant animals in the last batch.

Tons of horses, a dino and a poorly done terror bird

Not liking CollectA this year

Relax, young man. The terror bird is poorly done for CollectA standards, and I think that's undebatable. Painting is non-existent, same coat for legs and feathers, just some black in the tip of tail and wings and then red bright beak.

Sim

I think the only problem with the terror bird is the exposed fingers and total lack of primary feathers.  No bird alive today has exposed fingers as an adult and there's no reason to think it would have been different for a terror bird.

Well, I am super excited for the terror bird and will definitely be getting it!

I like that terror bird, but honestly, kind of an underwhelming finale...

suspsy

As has been the case for the last few years, CollectA nailed it with their prehistoric and equestrian lines, but fell short with wildlife.  :-\

That seems to be the direction they are going. Still, I plan on getting 7-9 figures, so I can't complain at all! Very happy with even a few.

I dunno, I think that shark is amazing. And I am gonna need that blobfish because it's still technically a deep sea critter.
I like turtles.

IMHO, the wildlife line is very very short, with just three figures. But the quality of those 3 seems to be as good as always. For me, I'm only interested in the takahe. The chamois and marmot are probably better than the Papos that I have, but Im exhausted of replacing and, honestly, that's even making my collecting love to dissapear.

The shark is pretty good as well, but in my case it would mean another replacement.

The non-dino extinct animals are, in my opinion, not good enough. In getting tired of CollectA brown painting. If you compare the procerias, diprotodon and now the sea scorpion, they are "plain" brown, boring. I dont say they have to be pink eh, but there are other options. This brown in the scorpion seems specially out of place for me, it's not a patter we see in sea creatures.
The bear is good but as someone said it has an antropomorphic look that makes it look like a human with a costume.

Terror bird is the most frustrating for me. I know you are liking it, but be fear, the painting is lazy to say the least. Compare it with the takahe painting and tell me it's not "poorly done"... More pale brown but in this case covering it entirely... no difference between legs and body. I honestly think it looks like a cheap bootleg due to painting, or like if someone had introduced the figure in bleach.

And I don't know about the dinos, but I've never been attracted by CollectA or Safari dino style.

Sim

Your opinion of the terror bird is just that, an opinion.  I think there's nothing bad about its paintjob and I find it looks good.

MudpupWaterdog

I'll definitely be getting the sea scorpion - getting one has been a collecting dream since I was a kid. I'll probably try cutting the fish out with a hobby knife too just to get an extra figure out of it.

I may get the terror bird. I have been looking for a decently priced Safari Gastornis for years. Between this one and Collecta's older Kelenken I prefer the Kelenken, but this one is good enough for me too. I'm not very scale-conscious usually but both the Collecta birds are so much bigger than all of Safari's Cenozoics.

The megamouth is cool but I'm good with Safari's. Maybe my mind will change if I see it in person somewhere though. As for the blobfish, everything I would say about it has already been said elsewhere in this thread.

That's it for my thoughts on Collecta this year. I'm glad that they're making cool things like the takahe, but I don't think I'll get anything else.

Arctinus

I'll definitely be getting the shark, the takahe, the gecko and the chamois. I was actually hoping they'd make a chamois to go along the other ungulates that are native to my country, even though I already have Papo's (but it's much larger). I might as well get the marmot, too.

I thought I was the only one that found the Phorushacos to look slightly off. At least when I first saw the images in the newsletter. I think it might be the paintjob, though I still might get it. Actually, I still have to get the Kelenken and the Doedicurus, they've been on my to-get list for long enough.
