Wild about the takahe. I was just looking at one.

It looks a bit off with the rear and of course not a fan of the grass blades between the feet

CollectA's modern wild animal lineup for 2025 is surprisingly diverse.  I'm pleased to see that, even if there's nothing that I'd like from it so far.

That's one of the first dinosaur models I'm honestly excited for in a long time.

Always find it funny how every company needs to have a marmot figure... out of all the cool rodents, always that one.

Since the late 90s of Schleich and Bullyland

@Saarlooswolfhound - what's your thought on the Dalmatian. Something seemed 'off' about it and as I look at Google image search results, I wonder if the legs are too short?

**I have been summoned** 8)

My honest opinion: there are better examples out there.

As usual its a terrible angle to judge it from but given what we have these are my thoughts based on what an AKC standards dalmatian should look like. The chest is too square in the front and the waist doesn't tuck in enough- this is moreso the body of a labrador than a dalmatian. The head looks quite good but the nose potentially is a bit short. The legs are indeed too thick and short for the breed, this also lends to a more lab looking dog. The tail looks quite short also. My biggest issue doesn't even boil down to "does it represent X breed?" but rather that its feet look very wrong for a dog. Basically the only thing that designates this as a dalmatian is the spotting. Nothing else lends to the slim, gracile figure of an athletic pointer/hound type breed.

That being said, it IS a really bad angle so some of this might look better in hand. But everything seems to be sculpted to be too square and stocky for this breed.

If you want my picks for a better looking one- the Safari (the sculpt is quite dated though), the Papo (I really like the spotting on him but the figure is a bit small), or my #1 is actually the Mojo. They did a splendid job!

And you can see em here-

Thanks for the detailed explanation; maybe I'll wait for better angles before I decide for sure. For dogs, I am not going back and getting figures I missed, only new ones as they release.

It's been a hot minute since the first announcement, I was just struggling a little to compose my thoughts.

So far I really like the new prehistorics- the jaekelopterus and arctodus especially. I think the color is mostly what is letting the bear down- I like that they took some inspiration from its closest living relative in the spectacled bear, but the pale blue gray is making the depth of the porportions a bit odd to visualize.

The horses of course are lovely- the "lipizzan" does not really look like one though. It looks like an Iberian breed such as a lusitano or andalusian. I think the halflinger and percheron are my favorites so far. Honestly, the dalmatian is a bit of a hot mess- hoping its the weird angle of it but the entire body type is wrong (too boxy, thick, and squared off- more like a dalmatian spotted labrador).

The wildlife are all nice and will likely be joining my curation. Honestly I was quite upset over the blobfish- but what I think has already been said- just a shame someone didn't say something about this. No way someone looked up a blobfish online at SOME POINT during the development of the figure and the live animal didn't show up. Simple negligence on their part to produce such a thing outside of a gimmick novelty toy like Archie McPhee figures.

As usual, I desperately hope for a new wolf sculpt (or pair of them) as theirs are terribly outdated... but I am sure I will be left wanting for yet another year...

I highly doubt it's negligence. The blobfish is best known as a corpse and that's what's gonna sell the best.
So far despite the controversy it's #3 most popular for 2025. If we exclude the two horses leading in popularity the blobfish is #1; ahead of all other wildlife & prehistorics.

Megamouth shark announced, as well as a dino, horses and other non-animal stuff

Looks better than Safari's

BlueKrono

Comparing apples to oranges? Safari has a basking shark, and that really looks like a megamouth.
I like turtles.

I like the megamouth but I already have Safari's.  :-\  I might have to break my one-figure-per-species rule with this one.

As already said, Safari has both :)

I am content with Safari's so I won't be betting CollectA's megamouth, but it is very nice!

I think I've content with SafariLtd's Megamouth. So it just looks like the Takahe this year for me.

Might consider the chamois if I ever see it in person.

Saarlooswolfhound

There is one more batch for next Friday I believe. I like the megamouth- not super impressed with the others.

I understand the thought process and the concept of a "gimmick" with this release. But my point is this isn't what I expected of CollectA as a company. Archie McPhee, a company who largely makes its revenue off of the oddity, weird, and meme-able concepts, sure! They have lots of blob fish and axolotl products already. But CollectA, whose company tag line is "a natural world in miniature" just produced a model of a bloated fish corpse taken outside of its natural habitat due to activities of man in order to capitalize on the world's obsession for the latest fad.

Just because its popular and it'll sell well (theoretically), doesn't make it any less disappointing to see.
