Quote from: JimoAi on May 31, 2024, 04:29:05 AMoh so they kept the sawshark a secret.

PS: it's 100% a Japanese sawshark

In that case I might get it, since it's different from the Toymany figure and it would only be my second!

What species is the Toymany?

Longnose; not sure if that is what was advertised (can't remember) or if community based. Now that we have @Kenc on the forum, maybe we can hear direct from Toymany! :) Kenc - what species is the sawshark from the 8PCS Shark Toys set from 2023?

Alopias superciliosus

Diversity of Life on Earth - Mini Sharks Vol. 2 [ETA September 2024]
1. Whale Shark
2. Great White Shark
3. Sand Tiger Shark
4. Pristiophoridae [not otherwise specified - any ideas @sbell ?]
5. Japanese bullhead shark

A little disappointed that these aren't of more unique species- the Viper Dogfish in series 1 was such a wonderfully interesting and obscure pick, was hoping another totally unrepresented species would appear in series 2 (especially having both a Great White in series 1 and 2, seems like a wasted slot) :-\

That said, I'll probably eventually get the Japanese Bullhead, probably the most accurate representation of that species so far (on an initial glance).

I would also presume with 99% certainty that it's a Japanese Sawshark, seems the only species Japanese companies are inclined to make, definitely the "default" sawshark in Japan (for understandable and obvious reasons lol). Don't think we ever got confirmation on what species of sawshark the Toymany one was, but I use mine as a Longnose (mostly because I already have too many Japanese sawsharks). Would also be interested to hear what species it was intended to be @Kenc (although I wouldn't be surprised if it's just supposed to represent a "generic" sawshark, and images from multiple species were consulted).

Kenc

These "sharks" are early products and not the boards I'm responsible for, so I'm not very familiar with their types, I'll go through the company's back-end information to give you an accurate answer on Monday while I'm at work  :)

I'm interested in the sand tiger shark if it's larger than the small Kaiyodo I have.  Do we have an idea of what the size of these figures will be?

Based on the earlier sharks, probably under 10cm

Sim

Oh, so it might be bigger than the Kaiyodo!  Thanks, I'll look out for it around the time of release!

Kenc

After checking the information, it is indeed a Japanese saw shark :)

@Kenc - are you saying the Toymany shark is Japanese, or the Bandai one above it? Thanks. If the Toymany shark is Japanese saw shark, I will retain it and not get the Bandai one.

There are two new species for the turtle collector:
D'Orbigny's slider, Trachemys dorbignyi
Florida red-bellied cooter, Pseudemys nelsoni

BlueKrono

Thankfully there's only 21 species of turtle I collect. The third one looks enough like the Rio Grande slider that I might be tempted though.
I like turtles.

I don't collect the Japanese brands but sets like that turtle one tempt me.
