Wow, that AAA lobster is so real-looking!

That is because, like many AAA models, it is cast from an dead specimen of an actual animal! Plus, it helps they didn't paint it to look 'cooked' like Safari did...  >:(

So, next up are the grylloblattids, or 'ice insects'. The three figures here are all based on the same original sculpt (and I am not sure who originated it--it shows up periodically in bin sets). None of the figures I have seen have been officially labeled as grylloblatids, and the ID is of my assigning. I have seen them marketed as earwigs but that ID is clearly not correct. For the time being, grylloblattid makes the most sense although they are not entirely accurate (either they were given two pairs of cerci or they are females and the ovipositor is split?).

Of the three figures shown here, the one on the far left is by K&M International (Insects Nature Tube) but they others are from unknown manufacturers.

To be fair, the Safari seems closer to a very dark calico colour morph than an actual cooked specimen to me.

Still missing a few antenna though ;)

Even still, thats a really clean cast. Especially with all the spindly bits.
