Well, it was bound to happen. The random number generator landed on the Japanese rhinoceros beetle, Allomyrina dichotoma. I have by far more figures of this species than any other (38 at the time of the initial post), to the point I have stopped buying them from the companies that feel compelled to re-release the same sculpts annually (F-Toys, Takara Tomy A.R.T.S.). Oh, and look, there is a second species in the genus at the bottom...

Tumbling flower beetles in the family, Mordellidae. I only have one representative of this family, an unidentified figure by Imperial Toys (Bugs n' Jugs), in a set that included several unusual beetle figures!

B. Life cycle elements.
Figures 1 and 2 are nymphs by Kaiyodo (Choco Q Animatales). The remaining figures represent the molting process by Bandai [the assigning of G. nigrofuscata to these figures is of my choosing].

Might be worth noting that the other New Ray cicada seems to be painted based very loosely on Magicicada, although I don't think any cicadas look like that one does, even when soft.

So, another tentative ID. I cannot remember how I acquired this figure, but after some research I am calling it the larva of the hydrophilid beetle, Berosus sp.
