Walk-around of the 2013 Schleich Wild Life Harbour Seal or Common Seal, Phoca vitulina Linnaeus, 1758. Total length (excluding hind legs, of course) is approx. 105 mm, so the scale would be approx. 1:12 - 1:17. The human figure (European Father from "Los Amigos del Mundo" by Miniland) is approx. 1:13 - 1:14 scale. I was quite impressed by the quality of the paint job on this one. Schleich also released a "Harbour Seal" pup this year, however, it shows a completely white fur which babies and juveniles of Phoca vitulina do not have.

Thanks, Jetoar! This was also a long awaited opportunity to get a figure of one of just two pinniped species occuring on Germany's coasts (the other being the Gray Seal, Halichoerus grypus, which was made by Bullyland).

Schleich does make some very fine animal replicas that almost rival Papo.   That seal is tempting me to get it

Here is a pair of Spotted seals (Phoca largha) from Yujin - Asahiyama Zoo collection. The diorama measures approximately 5.5cm L x 4.5cm W x 8cm H while the seals measure approximately 4cm long, making the scale about 1:50.
