Nile Crocodile, leaping (Wildlife by CollectA)

Among the most dangerous and feared animals are Nile crocodiles (Crocodylus niloticus). They have always instilled fear. And this fear is justified. A first fact about Nile crocodiles is that they can measure up to a maximum of 6 m (20 ft) which makes it the second largest extant reptile in the world.

Nile Crocodile (“Naeem”, Living Animal Models by PNSO)

5 (8 votes)

Although they’re most recognized by collectors for their prehistoric animal models, PNSO has also produced a number of extant animal figures over the years, aptly named the Living Animal Model Series, in both large and small sizes. In 2015 PNSO released thirteen Small Model Series figurines as an African Animals set, sold separately or bundled all together.

Everglades TOOB (Safari Ltd.)

4.9 (7 votes)

The Everglades is a subtropical and tropical wetland spanning 7,800 square miles (20,000 km2) in central and south Florida in the United States. Water from the Kissimmee River south of Orlando feeds into Lake Okeechobee and then continues south into Florida Bay. Although mostly marsh and flooded grassland the Everglades also run through cypress swamps, hardwood hammocks, pinelands, coastal prairies, and mangrove forests.

Cuban Crocodile (Baby Animals by Yowie Group)

4.1 (16 votes)

After discovering that Yowie figures were widely available in the United States me and my family went on a bit of a Yowie buying spree. Buying a few of the eggs just about every time we encountered them in the wild until we ended up getting more repeats than it was worth.

Australian Continent TOOB (Safari Ltd.)

4.3 (13 votes)

In addition to being a country, Australia is also a continent, but the continent of Australia is not just composed of Australia itself. The Australian continent includes mainland Australia, Tasmania, New Guinea, the Aru Islands, the Ashmore and Cartier Islands, and most of the Coral Sea Islands as well as a smattering of other islands.

Nile Crocodile (Saltwater Crocodile) (Incredible Creatures by Safari Ltd.)

4.5 (16 votes)

One of the most powerful animals in the Animal Kingdom, having a bite force of over 3,000 psi and able to hold its breath underwater for over an hour, the crocodile is an impressive animal that is feared and yet even revered in some cultures, notably the Ancient Egyptians who worshipped them.

Saltwater Crocodile, ‘Fiona’ (G.I. Joe: Classified Series by Hasbro)

G.I. Joe is not a franchise I have any prior affiliation with or affection for; it just never crossed my radar in any meaningful way growing up. Show me a big, articulated reptile toy, however, and I will gladly offer any merchandise brand a moment of my time.

Nile Crocodile, 2007 (Wild Animals by Papo)

4.3 (13 votes)

Ever since the beginning of civilization, ancient humans in Africa and the Middle East have been fascinated by the crocodile. The Nile crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus) once had a much larger range–all over Africa and even in Western Asia and the Middle East. A species of Nile crocodile lived in the Jordan River in Palestine until 1912, when the last known one was caught.

Nile Crocodile, 2007 (Wild Life Africa by Schleich)

4 (5 votes)

Schleich is a German company that has really evolved a lot, especially in the last 20 years or so, from making more simplistic figurines to becoming a creator of some of the most realistic animal figures I’ve ever seen. That being said, I do still like some of the slightly older Schleichs and have been occasionally seeking to add some of the older ones to my collection.

Endangered Species Reptiles Box (Colorata)

Colorata is a Japanese company that has been around for several decades. The internet and global market made their models available to the world outside Asia and the quality of their products made them desirable collector items. A lot of Colorata’s figures have been released as parts of a box, set, of which there are quite a lot to choose from, “fossil fish”, birds of prey, sharks, dinosaurs, cats and a lot more.

Nile Crocodile, 2016 (Wild Life by Schleich)

Crocodiles are some of the most awesome and ancient predators on Earth, and as such, they have proven quite the mainstay in the world of animal toys. Indeed, it is probably fair to say that they are the most popular and frequent reptiles to appear in toy form.

Land Down Under TOOB (Safari Ltd.)

4.8 (5 votes)

Australia, like all islands, is an isolated laboratory of sorts, one that offers a look at what the world might be like under different evolutionary pressures. The rest of the world at large operates in much the same way, no matter where you go; the placental mammals (cats, dogs, deer, antelope, etc.) dominate top tier niches.
