Recently, I went on a visit to the Bristol Zoo with my girlfriend. Unfortunately, it was raining quite heavily, so we ducked into the more covered areas to get out of it. Whilst we were getting out of the rain, we quite enjoyed watching the ring-tailed lemurs (Lemur catta) in the primate section. They were much more active than any other animal we saw, and I felt fit to pick a model of one from the zoo’s gift shop as a keepsake. I amm going to be reviewing it now.
This model of a great Madagascan native, lemurs are only found on that island, and take various forms. The ring-tailed, perhaps the most famous of them all, is an adept climber and omnivore, skipping across the ground and jumping from tree to tree.
This example is a pair, an adult and infant; the infant resembling a miniature version of the adult. It measures 5.5″ long and 2″ high, with the child huddled close to a very alert adult (with eyes looking particularly worried). The paint is good for the most part, but got a few odd spots, like the head having short, back and side, and the underside rather under painted. Not terrible, but not phenomenal. The face does not look the best either, a tad cheap.
While this is not the best example of a lemur model, it does have a nice charm to it, especially for being a pair rather than a single model. Quite cute. It is available, both online and in zoo stores. I do recommend it, as it does seem rather sweet.
