Reindeer (Early Learning Centre)

Well, the holiday season is upon us, and Christmas is just around the corner, so I thought I’d do a review of an animal that is quintessential to the holiday. And I can think of no better than the reindeer (Rangifer tarandus), famous for carrying Santa’s sleigh. In reality, these cold weather specialists live in the Northern Hemisphere, existing in herds and live off the vegetation they can find, ranging in size and colour. Here, we see an example by the Early Learning Centre.

Finding an exact subspecies is tricky for this species, as this shows many features that are common amongst most the subspecies, like the brown coat, large antlers and fur growing down from the neck, as such, I won’t be discerning one in this review, and moving on to the main figure’s features.

For an older figure, the sculpt is fantastic, from the fur to the horns. The head sculpt is especially well done, looking sensational. The pose is quite simple, a standard standing pose, not much to write about really. It is quite sizeable though, measuring 6.4″ high and 6″ long, quite large in comparison to most lines.

While an older figure, I still think this is a standout figure and worthwhile in a collection or kids toy box. It is discontinued, so best to try eBay, but with it’s large size and fantastic sculpt, I do recommend it. It kept me happy over the years. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays all!
