For those who know me, back in 2019 I started my own blog site to explore my collection: Fauna Figures. The blog was a follow up to my online store of the same name. As my collection ranges across time and taxa (currently 4432 figures, and it was much higher when I started – lots of sales/trades, but also continual additions) I discussed all manner of figures, companies, and ‘clades’ or ‘grades’. A few years ago, time and burnout just kept me from continuing to post, and I realized that the cost of maintaining it wasn’t worth it for me.
But there’s some good stuff on there (if I say so myself), and some posts seem to have weird traction (is it the only source of a least one photo of each Dinosaur King series 2 figure by Playmates that actually got released? It appears so). Okay, and some less great stuff (I evolved it many times). There are also lots of photos. In total there are well over 300 posts! So, I didn’t just want it to disappear forever.
That led me to reach out to Adam, the owner and operator of the AnimalToyForum/Blog and DinoToyForum/Blog, about hosting the remains of Fauna Figures. We agreed that the animaltoyforum.com domain would be the best fit for it as a sub-site, where it could continue to exist in a place that’s mostly consistent with the theme. The style and format is very different from the ATF though! These days I’m mostly about modern animals, in particular fish, when it comes to writing posts, and I have spent a good part of this year getting back into posting here on the Animal Toy Blog – it helps that there’s a whole team keeping it going, less personal pressure!
You may have already seen the links added to Fauna Figures in the top menus of the Animal Toy Blog and Forum, and the Dino Toy Blog and Forum, so Fauna Figures is now an official part of this network. It can be reached directly here: https://animaltoyforum.com/faunafigures. The general shape of the site didn’t change, and with Adam’s help everything should be back in place (the hardest part? Adding back the feature images!). So, now you know what that link is! Maybe you know the site already, or maybe it will be new to you, but at least it has a home again (and that means the photos are all still hosted too!). There is also the possibility of me adding to it in the future I suppose, but it’s probably not going to happen (have people actually asked for a follow up to the salamandroid figures post? Yes. Don’t know if I will though).
So, now the site has fully moved (the original is unpublished and won’t go anywhere), we’re excited to announce it here! The original faunafigures.com domain will eventually expire as well, but at least the site will live on! That address again: https://animaltoyforum.com/faunafigures!
