When someone or something is capable of scaling mountains and sheer heights, they are said to be “Sure footed as a mountain goat”, and it is well earned. The Mountain Goat (Oreamnos americanus) is a capable of scaling heights in spite of lacking claws or anything for grappling, across the alpine and sub alpine areas of the Rockies mountains. There have been a few figures of these mighty mountaineers, and here we see a pair by Noah’s Pals.
We start with the male, Mason. The pose is that of keeping watch, looking around over his territory, though the raised leg can make it a bit tricky to balance on uneven terrain. The model is spot on to the actual animal, giving it sculpted fir that suits this cold weather climber. The hooves are an odd colour, but workable. As befitting a 1:24 scale model, it is small, measuring 2.9″ long and 1.8″ high, good for the line.
Next up is our female, the lovely maid Marion (sorry, couldn’t resist!). The pose is more actively moving forward, no fuss, though without the greater gait of Mason, her raised leg causes more balancing issues. The sculpting is great, though without being with Mason, you might not be able to tell she is a female, as the size difference is the only difference between the sexes. This means she is smaller, measuring 2.4″ long and 1.5″ high.
Overall, this is a marvellous little set. Well sculpted, decent sized, the only real flies in the ointment being the odd hooves and the slight balance problems. Being part of the “Common” part of the Noah’s Pals line, it’s reasonably easy to find compared to other models, so I think it’s worth picking up. EBay is the best bet to find it, so happy hunting.
