In the forests of South America, is an incredible and capable killer. With a camouflaged pelt, acute senses and a powerful bite that allows it to crush turtle carapaces and mammal skulls, it is famed for power and features in many myths and legends of the region. This animal is the Jaguar (Panthera onca), and despite the problems from hunting for it’s pelt, it is still among us across South America, though in many areas it’s numbers are incredibly low, hence why, in the Noah’s Pals line, it is part of the “vulnerable” line, limited to 20,000 pairs. Let’s see how they came out.
We start with Jared, the male. He is the larger of the two, measuring 3.1″ long and 1.6″, not bad at a 1:24 scale. His pose is alert, moving cautiously forward. Perhaps he’s spotted prey or heard a threat. The pelt is spot on to a jaguar, though the head lacks some of the greater details, though this may just be due to the size and age of the figure. Mixed bag.
Next to the female, Janet. Her head is down, with her left paw up. This really illustrates the stealthy nature of a hunting jaguar, and really suites the model. She is slightly smaller than Jared, being 2.8″ long and 1.1″ high, but still in the right scale. The pelt is once again fantastic, though is again not as detailed as it could be. Still, not bad.
This is a cute little set, really showing the strengths of these sets, two together forming a nice pair. They are not the best jaguars out there admittedly, there are much better examples, but I still wouldn’t discount this one. It is long discontinued, so eBay is the best bet. I feel it is worth considering at least, price depending.
