When one thinks of animal conservation, the image of one rare animal will often pops into mind: the giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca). The symbol of the World Wildlife Federation, this magnificent bear nearly became extinct in the wild, but fortunately, it is in a better state than it was, now listed as venerable, so it can continue to live carefree, bamboo eating lives. Its cute nature has resulted in a lot of figures, such as this one by AAA, labelled as the Panda Right Front Paw Up version (no, really). Lets take a closer look.
The name says everything about its stance, the one thing differentiating it from the main model. It is painted as it should be, with plenty of black and white. The eyes are beautiful here, and the fur work brilliantly. Wish the claws were better done though.
This is a moderately sized model, measuring 4.6″ long and 2″ high, a decent size for this little cutie. It has quite a good weight to it, so take care that kids don’t throw it at each other.
This is an older figure, but quite a nice one. Yes, there are newer, better models, but I still see this as a gem, despite the long winded name. eBay is your best bet, and I feel kids and collectors will both enjoy it. Hopefully it, like the animal it’s based on, can avoid being lost to the world.
