Well, here we are. We have reached the end of Summer, and of the “Savanah Summer” series of reviews. Still, while it is still here, we can enjoy the summer sun with one last review. Heading to the north of Africa, we see masters of life in the sand and heat, the dromedary camel (Camelus dromedarius). Used for riding, racing, food and beasts of burden from the north of Africa into Arabia, they are mostly domestic animals, living with humans to travel the harsh terrain. They and their Bactrian relatives are common on the toy shelves, and here, we see two examples from Noah’s Pals.

First up we have the large male, Cody. He is striding out nicely here, though this can lead to balancing issues, especially on uneven terrain or if the legs bend, a potential problem owing to the thin legs and nature of the plastic. As the tallest of the camel species, it is a naturally large figure, measuring 4.5″ long and 3.7″ high, a decently sized model. The sculpting is great for the most part, especially on the head legs, though one thing that stands out (and not for the best of reasons) is the hump. I can see what they were going for, as dromedaries can have tufts of hair growing on their hump. My issues here is the execution, too much sculpting making it look like it had a load of mud dumped on it and it dried like that. The paint works, especially on it’s lovely lashes, not too much going on. Not too bad overall.

Next to Carly, the smaller female. The height difference is very noticeable, her measuring 4.1″ long and 3.3″ high, but this isn’t impossible for dromedaries. She is fairly stoic, standing still and looking around, perhaps a little weary. The stance means it is easy to stand up, though the thin legs can bend if badly kept. Again the tuft of hair is here too, but it likewise doesn’t work brilliant. Paint works well again at least. Pretty decent.

Overall, this is quite a sweet set. They are sizeable, working well with a few lines, especially among other Noah’s Pals figures. I feel like children would love these two, and some collectors may take a shine to them, but others may be put off by the older look and odd stylings. Still, worth a pick up if you find it cheap. eBay is your best bet. Well, the nights draw in, the air grows cold, and our “Savanah Summer” comes to a close. Thank you for joining me on this journey through the wildlife of the African continent. Will there be more like this? Wait and see!
