All the poison dart frogs of Central and South America are decked out in vivid colours, but the blue poison dart frog (Dendrobates tinctorius var. azureus) is particularly unique due to being decked out in brilliant blues.

Toymany’s blue poison dart frog is posed in a semi-crouching position with its right hind leg folded tightly, but its left one extended out slightly. As well, its rump is held off the ground, almost as though the frog is crawling along a leaf or the jungle floor. Unfortunately, the limbs on mine are a bit warped, so they don’t all touch the ground properly.

This frog measures about 4 cm long, 5.5 cm wide, and 3.5 cm high. It is decked out in pleasing shades of light and dark blue, with many black spots and glossy black eyes. It also features snow white on its toe pads, which is an error on Toymany’s part. They ought to be pale blue instead.

Other than that, this looks like a pretty accurate amphibian. It has a relatively short snout, large eyes, a pronounced hump on its back, properly proportioned limbs, and bulging toe pads. The skin is pitted all over, giving it an even more realistic appearance.

Overall, the Toymany blue poison dart frog is a very beautiful and pleasing little toy, albeit not perfect.
