As its name suggests, the Australian green tree frog (Ranoidea caerulea) can be found throughout the northern and eastern regions of Australia, and in New Guinea as well. They prefer to live in moist forests, but will also inhabit swamps, grasslands, and around human dwellings. They are also one of the most popular pet frogs.

The Toymany Australian green tree frog measures 6 cm long. It is sculpted in a resting pose with its head lowered and its limbs tucked beneath its body. While this is realistic and a nice change from the usual pose you tend to find toy frogs in, some children may find it less fun to play with.

The tree frog’s main colour is a very light green with airbrushed pink on its white underbelly and airbrushed brown on its rear end. The eyes are glossy black and brown, the nostrils are bright pink, and the tympanums are lavender. It looks nice, however, the green looks a few shades too light. As well, the pupils are round whereas they ought to be almond-shaped and horizontal.

The tree frog’s skin has a nice pitted pattern all over, along with minimal wrinkles and grooves. Flipping the toy over reveals some beautifully sculpted feet, complete with long, flattened spoon-shaped digits. And like many frogs, this one has what appears to be a rather peaceful and pleasant expression on its face. The Australian green tree frog feeds primarily on insects and spiders, and whatever other organisms it can cram into its mouth.

Overall, the Toymany Australian green tree frog is a decent representation of the species, although the eyes and colouration could have been improved.

With Toymany’s American bullfrog from the same set.
