I recently bought a lot on eBay, mainly for some Play Visions prosimians and bats. Within this lot was this baby white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simium) by Safari Ltd. Normally I do not collect baby animals to compliment adults, but this a rather nice figure, especially given it was produced back in 1996. I debated on whether or not I should retain it, or add it to the charity donate bin, but in the end I decided to keep it. Unlike most of the figures in the lot which showed some wear from play, it was in great condition, even with the original tag! I have already reviewed one of Safari’s adult white rhinos, so now we will briefly look at its calf.
The figure measures 8.0 cm long and 4.5 cm high at the shoulder. Like the adult, this figure was repainted in 2016; however, the figure we are looking at today is the original 1996 version (which frankly I think looks better for the baby).
There is not too much more to say about this figure, since I talked about the species when I reviewed the adult. Even though a different adult was made alongside this calf in 1996, it scales well with the 2010/2016 adult figure:
If you have this adult and would like to compliment it with a baby, this is a great option. I would suggest hunting down this 1996 paint job, too, if you can find it in good condition.
