Walk-around of the Safari Ltd Wild Safari Wildlife 2016 roseate spoonbill, Platalea ajaja (Linnaeus, 1758); item No. 224829. Total length is difficult to estimate but may be around 127 mm if the figure was fully stretched out. Bill length is 32 mm and wing chord is 50 mm so the scale is approx. 1:7. Unlike the other spoonbill species which are almost uniformly white this one shows a pinkish plumage. However, the colour is derived from carotenoids in its diet, much like it is the case in flamingoes (Phoenicopterus spp.) and fire-bellied toads (Bombina spp.). Like other spoonbills, this species is usually found wading through water only a few centimetres deep, searching for crustaceans and small fish. Ranging from Southern North America (including Florida, Texas, and Louisiana) southward to Northern Argentina, the world population is considered stable and IUCN considers it Least Concern.

Wonderful model. I would buy it if it had half the size of this one 🙂
This is one of the models that has been ‘tempting’ me to expand from arthropods over the years
I truly wish I could get a hold of this gorgeous figure. Sadly it’s is hard tom find Safari in the UK
Just received this figure last week with 12 others. Really nice, but as I look at it now does it look like it has two tails?! Might just be me.
I only can judge from photos, since I don’t have this figure – and will never have, as it’s ginormous for me – but I only can see a single tail.
Hi – does anyone know where I can purchase this model? My daughter is obsessed and is wanting this exact model. Thank you
It’s retired, so periodic eBay searches are probably your best option. That’s how I got mine.
