I definitely want these, but Rebor said yesterday on the DTF to hold off on buying them right now. They're trying to drop the price by paying the tariff cost themselves rather than passing it on to the customer.

I'd order directly from China so tariffs theoretically wouldn't affect me anyway

I'm not clear whether REBOR is technically a UK or Hong Kong company, it's BBTS that is an American company that ships from US warehouses. So ordering from them means we are paying BBTS's retailer markup*, for shipping the item internationally twice (its shipment to BBTS will increase the base price marginally), increased shipping charges from the shipping companies as most are taking advantage of the tariff panic, and possibly (our governments retaliatory) tariffs themselves.

All of this putting aside that Canadians are avoiding purchasing from US companies as much as can reasonably be done so right now.

Essentially, tariffs are dumb and just cost consumers more.
With Rebor produced in China by a UK company, we wouldn't see anything beyond usual customs if necessary. If we order from China. Or Australia. Or whatever.

But US companies (will? Maybe? Depending on the day?) pay a tariff to order from China, a cost that gets passed on (usually with a markup -- retail is usually double the full cost including all import and shipping). So that's the challenge right now...
It's all very stupid, since it's unlikely that it will increase domestic production of these kinds of items.
