New for 2025 - LIVESTOCK, PETS, & POULTRY

For 2025 I am going to start something new in the 'New For...' child board. In addition to threads by company, I will also try to maintain threads for major taxonomic or ecological themes, that way a collector can see in the first post of the thread, for example, what all mammal wildlife are released in a year. This thread will be for Livestock, Pets, and Poultry; the list of threads will be:

Mammals - Wildlife
Birds - Wildlife
Reptiles and Amphibians
Fish and Marine
Insects and other Terrestrial Invertebrates
Livestock, Pets, and Poultry
Mixed Wildlife
Dinosaurs and Prehistoric

Some releases may be in more than one thread. I will start adding pics to these threads this weekend! Feel free to contribute to the thread, I'll do my best to keep the first thread updated! We will see how this goes; if it becomes overwhelming I may not maintain it in future years!

If we're including the leopard gecko, should the Mojo blue macaw and Bandai red-eyed tree frog (red eyed tree frogs are not uncommon pets, but firebelly newts are particularly common ones) set be included?

I only included them because they represent domestic morphotypes. I am not putting every animal kept as a pet here, it will get overwhelming. Some people keep tigers as pets...

I think this is a great idea!  I'd be willing to help where I am able to. Thanks for starting all of these topics- I find them helpful to appreciate the diversity we are getting in the new year. Livestock and pets especially are usually pretty low in diversity (either in taxonomic groups or just breeds) but so far we have a few interesting items for 2025!

While certainly fair enough (I think that is a very good cutoff to keep things simple), is that leopard gecko not the wild morph? It doesn't have the lighter bands on the torso but I figured that was a level of paint detail thing and not deliberately representative.

Regardless, the nearly fully red fire-bellied newt is, if I am recalling discussions from regarding Kitan set back in the day correctly, also a domestic morph.
