I was on Science & Nature's website, having recently been very interested in their figures and I saw they have two new for 2024 figures!

Thylacine

Galah

There is also a new version of a species they previously made:

Magpie

I'm guessing we'll see those at MiniZoo soon enough

Wow that Galah is going straight on my 'to purchase' list!

Thanks, Sim!

The galah looks a little goofy, but I suppose I'll get it.

After further evaluation, I think my preliminary thoughts on the Galah were a result of the odd shadowing of the stock photo.

I'll wait until MiniZoo gets them in because the Science&Nature website only sells them in packs of 10. MiniZoo is also the quickest at getting new CollectA figures too.

I contacted MiniZoo and they are getting the next wave of CollectA in June, so I'll buy the Galah then (hope they don't sell out...)

The Magpie is new also. I ordered all 3 new Science and Nature last night.

I saw on Science & Nature's website a magpie figure that looked new, but it wasn't listed as new and I don't know if it's a remake or a prototype.  I sent an email to Science & Nature asking about it but I haven't received a reply.  I'm interested in knowing if the magpie you receive is like the "new" version, or if it's the original version.
If the magpie has received a remake, I hope Science & Nature would remake their black swan, without a base!  I expressed my hope for that in the email I sent them.

It looks like a new sculpt to me. But once it gets to me I can share a comparison of them both.

I wasn't sure if the magpie was new - it looked new to me. But there was a magpie in their larger range -

the magpie is not new; it's modified from the older one

stargatedalek

The entire detail work is different. It's based on the older one's pose, but nothing else is the same.

Saarlooswolfhound

I agree, I think this is a release of a similar model, but its new sculpting.

EpicRaptorMan

New detail work of old model = modified

No, it's a similar pose, but it's a new sculpt. Like, look at it. Head is different, body is different, wings are different, tail is different, legs are different.

Unless you have proof that it they started completely from scratch then it would be modified. Regardless, it's all semantics who cares?

Saarlooswolfhound

This isn't really an argument of semantics. If you look closely, the original magpie has a far more upright posture than the newly released model who is more balanced laterally. The body depth of the more recent model is deeper looking from mid dorsal point to ventral point. The texture of feathers is different. The beak of the old model is slimmer and longer. The recent release has thicker legs. The way the heads are set on each model are different also; they are both slight tilted to the right, but the older model has its head raised up higher giving the entire neck-head area a slimmer look, while the recent figure has it placed in a more rested position, making it more robust looking/thicker diameter. IMO, those are all (in combination at least) difficult to "retool".

Regardless, I have the old one and the recent release is on its way. I can present comparisons and we will see if it is indeed different or not. :D

SerAndrew

This is a completely new model. As someone said, just. look at it
