Giant Squid vs Oceanic Whitetip shark?

just found an interesting article from 2020 that discusses the possibility that an Oceanic Whitetip shark that was photographed off Hawaii may have had a confrontation with a Giant Squid.

While the evidence is circumstantial, it is plausible and makes for some interesting possibilities.   I've scanned online and all the articles I found say basically the same thing, without adding more information, so if anyone can provide more details i'd be keen to read them.   

I'm assuming when they say the Giant Squid must have been between 6 and 7 feet long, they are talking mantle length?  The sucker marks were described as 'golf ball size'.
