After looking at that video (thank for that BTW, SerAndrew), I think I'll stick with my original two, the bonobo and ibex, with a couple maybes in the Japanese macaque and Bobtail dog.
The black bear and armadillo are also very nice, but don't need to replace the ones I have.

I hope the armadillo is the giant armadillo and african buffalo is a female

No, the armadillo appears to be the familiar nine-banded

The African buffalo is clearly a bull. You can easily make out the scrotum and the retracted penis. Plus there's the huge boss on top of the skull.

Modern animals looking nicer than recent years! If only the dinosaurs had followed suit.

Unless the actual product when it comes out is of lesser quality than with the promo pics depict. That was the case last year.

I actually think the in-hand products were better than promo pics. Not so cutesy. Gwangi and I were chatting offline about it, wondering if they make promo pics look more 'cute' to entice orders from vendors.

EpicRaptorMan

@bmathison1972 yeah no. The quality of the caracal was clearly a big cut.

You jut liked it because it wasn't "smiling", but the irl model still has an upturned mouth.
I'm unfortunately expecting the 2024 to have similar quality control issues.

You're talking about the caracal. I'm talking about 8-10 others I've seen in hand or in hand pics of.
And I think my caracal looks better than promo pics, but I know there's some variability.

I also wasn't referring to the slight upturned mouth, I was referring to the 'overall' cuteness in their promo pics. The way my caracal's eyes are painted also make it look less 'cutesy'. I explained all this in my review of it: https://animaltoyforum.com/blog/caracal-wild-life-africa-by-schleich/

So what all made it cutesy?: The smirk which is still present on every figure I've seen. And the highlights in the pupils. That's just natural reflection. Sure, they could have made the material more reflective like they did with their old figures instead of paint alone. But that's too much to ask.

I would've taken that if they made the facial markings more believable. Honestly their's just looks like a discount cheetah.

All I'm saying is that the actual product is likely not going to look the same as the promo pics...and that's typically going to be for the worse

There are certainly some choices made in the new figures.

The salamander is raised off the ground like a lizard...odd.

There's clearly a favouring of the Eldrador and Bayala lines... I'm curious to see what a 'Shadow Isopod' looks like up close...the lava hyena amuses me though.

I see they finally formally changed the translation of the Old English sheep dog. it was 'Bobtail' which is an outdated name. Are those fish 'frozen in the ice' in the Penguin Family display?

My wishes remain unchanged:
YES:
bonobo
ibex
HIGHLY LIKELY:
Japanese macaque
Old English Sheep Dog
PERHAPS:
Wire-haired Dachshund
British Shorthair cat

Thanks for sharing the catalog!  I like salamanders and I'm very interested in this new Schleich one!  I hope its markings aren't carved on like one of the Bullyland salamanders and Schleich boa.

The fish look pretty generic. If that's not the case... we'll see what they are

bmathison1972

Yeah I know they are generic. I was curious if they were 'embedded' in the plastic, as if frozen in the ice, or additional accessories. I have no interest in getting them, just curious.

As promo pics become available online I am editing the first post. I just added the bulk of Farm World (pets, livestock)

bmathison1972

Updated first post with the remaining wildlife, horses, and dinosaurs. Not sure why there is such a size difference; I got them from the same site. Oh well, it works.

That's pretty cool. Too bad the bonobo isn't included  :P
