It's not finished yet but this is a painting I did today.  I think I'm still going to add some kind of deep sea crab and maybe a brittle star.

So cool! I love the lighting, what medium did you use? Also, what species is the fish in the bottom left with the lure?

NSD Bashe

thank you  :)  I used acrylic paint, and that fish is a whipnose angler (to be honest I painted these from memory so I'm not positive how accurate they are).

this is nice; I was curious about the medium too. Did you paint on a black background, or is that part of the work you did too?

NSD Bashe

Funny thing is, I have a couple black canvases somewhere but in this case I just grabbed a regular white 8.5 x 11.5 canvas and started by painting it black with a foam sponge.  Also thanks  ^-^

I made a picture of possibly my favorite type of fish, the deep sea Bathysidus pentagrammus, or "five-lined constellation fish".  Note, this species is unconfirmed as of now, being it was only observed by one person (the famed William Beebe), and is thus technically considered a "cryptid" (albeit more likely to exist than most others).  This is mainly an acrylic painting, with a little bit of digital enhancement via Photoshop.  This is a fish I've always wanted to properly depict, especially as I can find so few renderings of it, and I hope to one day be able to design a figure of one; or even see it for real...

These are all amazing, really stellar work. I hadn't heard of this latest fish before. Thanks for showing me something new!
