from the earlier picture I can make out 3 types of cetacea, and a strange red-ish grey blob, quite possibly a crustacean

highly unlikely; more just wishful thinking on my part. companies like these rarely delve into the invertebrates. At best they may make an octopus...

on further inspection it looks like a turtle, sorry
at least it seems like a promising turtle from this distance...

[EDIT] I enlarged the photo, it is indeed a turtle
theres also a humpback whale, an orca, and a smaller beaked dolphin, and something behind the sign that looks like it could be a manta ray

A (white) beaked dolphin is very interesting for me  :)

Newt, alright if I share your photos on STS

I went to Target today to see the dinosaurs and animals, and thought I would share a closeup of the sea life:

The whale, shark, and orca are generic. The ray is okay but also quite similar to other brands, I think. The dolphin is eye-catching with a glossy sheen and sculptured face, but, is the head too big? The turtle is heavy and colorful- it represents a baby but something seems "off" about it.

A few more things that caught my eye:

The alligator had personality and could be the most interesting. The raccoon was one of my favorite sculpts, but was huge, comparable in size to Safari's. The lioness has potential, with its paw turned to the side in a swatting motion. The sheep had an attractive, subtle "something" about it. Maybe the wolf could be repainted into an Indian wolf, it was hard to judge the facial details under the bold paint. They felt overpriced compared to the dinosaurs, which were the highlight.

thanks for the closeups ;)
I think the torso ("shoulders") of the dolphin are over-sized, more so than its head

that supposed sea turtle hatchling looks like it has a baby pig nosed turtle/fly river turtle head.
the Terra animals are unimpressive, but there are two or three figures that i might buy tho.

I saw the figures at Target today, and was going to buy the orca. (I'm collecting orca toys right now, to start out) It looked pretty decent, and I was going to checkout... Then I noticed that one pectoral fin was half the size of the other! It would've looked fine if that was fixed. (other than the weird saddlepatch, but it's hard to find a figure that has a saddlepatch to begin with)

Target is right by our home, and I always love going to see the Terra figurines! Some are better than others, and I specifically like the horses and other farm animals. It's a bummer they don't have any domestic animals like dogs or cats though. I have three Terra figurines: a black stallion named Cyclone, an Appaloosa horse named Flick, and a white mare named Majesty. They are my favorite animal figures I own, and believe me, I own a lot!

I saw the whole line for sale.

I didn't buy a single one. Every one of them had poor paint jobs, weird proportions, or the overall feel of a dollar-store level toy. Maybe that's the goal that Battat had, but they won't be in my house. The dinos and Hydra are cool though, and we have those.

I bought the manta ray and alligator, I plan on repainting them.

I considered those two, but realized I have lots of species--and don't have the patience to paint them better!
