Vault tales #27 Ausini Wild Boar

Who makes it? A weird, small company named Ausini as part of a mini wild animals set.

When did it come out? I’ve had it for at least 10 years, but it’s probably older.

Look. A tiny boar! At this size, my camera is not pleased.

Still available? It’s hard to pin down. I think it’s originally an Italian company, but I cannot find the set anymore. I did find references to Ausini recalls of wildlife sets, but they make/made a lot of low end toys as well. So I would hesitantly say no, but the molds could still be out there being used.

Where can it be found in my displays? Pfft. This is a tiny figure for whatever reason. It’s in storage.

How does it fit in the collection? It doesn’t. I seem to recall that there were some intriguing other critters in the set (I believe of 24). Which is why I got the set. But I generally don’t do much with tiny figures of hoofed animals.

And from the other side!

Any story behind it? Unlike many of my figures, I have only vague recollection of how I got this one. I recall making a game for my son (I know, NERD) and thought some of the little figures might work. How I found them or where I got them, I have no idea. I do know that this boar wouldn’t have been a priority.

Notable remarks about this figure (a review that isn’t really a review): I don’t have much to say. It’s clearly boarish. At the small size (it’s roughly 1:75 scale) there’s not much to remark on in terms of detail. The paint job is uninspiring, just black over the yellow PVC with no detailing.

Is he playing fetch? Trying to scare it away? Seems like he shouldn’t get that close. Boar are big. And can be unpredictable.

Would I recommend it? My limited words probably make it clear, but no. This figure is not worth the effort. There are others in the set that might be more intriguing (one is slated to come up in a few weeks) but I don’t even know if these can be found. Also, there are many, many other boar figures in a number of sizes, so those are probably a better bet anyway.
