FigureFocus 322 ForCorporation Churaumi Aquarium Whale Shark

Time to look at another one of those less common gashapon figures from a less common company. This is one from a company called ForCorporation, and while I'm sure they do other things, I am familiar with them as makers of aquarium capsule figures. While some of them have come into my collection (or at least my awareness) as figures labelled as "Another Aquarium" which...not sure what's going on with that one. It's like a generic capsule series that would…

FigureFocus 302 Neko Works Hybodus

Quick look* at a nifty shark figure today--the prehistoric shark Hybodus made by Neko Works for their "Shark Attack" series. These are single piece models available in Japan only (I think) as unpainted white resin figures. This mean lots of great detail, and also lots of pointy bits. And they are certainly not toys as they can be fairly fragile. The unpainted Hybodus in its complete form. A few molding bits to clean up I suppose. Also note that central…

FigureFrenzy 293 Pike, Salmon, Reef shark, White shark

It's been a while, but we're going all fish today! A couple of sharks, and a couple of freshwater fish, both Protacanthopterygiians (and also both from Replica Toy Fish). Overall a good day for fish. FameMaster Great White Shark A pretty decent Great White Shark model for a 3D model puzzle. Too bad the seams are so obvious. The diver is about 1:72, so it can work for the figure. We're going to start with the biggest fish (although not…

FigureFrenzy 276 Brachiosaurus, Spiny terrapin, Sand tiger shark, Caecillian

Let's look at another weird range of figures. One of them isn't much to look at--but how often do we see caecillian figures? Almost never to be exact. Kaiyodo Dinotales Series 2 Brachiosaurus More dinotales! This time their really nice Brachiosaurus. It's about a 1:185 scale figure, so the man there is too big for that scale. First up, another of the great Dinotales figures, specifically the Brachiosaurus from series 2, number 27. There is not a lot to still…

FigureFocus 275 PNSO Haylee the Helicoprion

Due to recent events, I'm going to make this a quick single-figure post. In this case (in case the title didn't give it away) it will be a somewhat recent 'shark' figure from PNSO, Haylee the Helicoprion, number 43 in their Prehistoric Animal Models series. It's hard to believe that there's already so many in this line. Anyway, of the figures released in 2021, definitely one of my favorites. And a great example of what this company is up to!…

Vault Tales 271 FigureFrenzy Pufferfish, TroutPerch, Perch, Crocodile shark

Start of a new year! So let's start with a variety of fish! Colorata Saltwater Fish 1 Tiger Pufferfish It's a very nice Tiger Pufferfish. If you look closely, you can also see a snail for it to snack on! It's about 1:7 scale, so Ray is a bit small. Our first fish of 2022 is the Tiger Pufferfish from Colorata, number 14 in the original Saltwater Fish box set. It's a magnificent figure, lots of detail and colour. As…

Vault Tales 268 FigureFrenzy Ichthyosaurus, Opabinia, Ammonite, Stethacanthus

All prehistoric! All aquatic! All kinds of different taxonomic groups. And wildly diffefrent companies. Just a small glimpse of the range of figures I have I guess. Dinotales Series 2 Ichthyosaurus More Dinotales figures! This time a classic prehistoric animal, Ichthyosaurus! And a really great representation of the animal. It's about 1:38 scale so the diver is way too small. We'll start with a figure from a series that, of course, I've looked at many times before, from Kaiyodo Dinotales…

Vault Tales 249 Run the Set Safari Ltd Pelagic Fishes toob

Another Safari toob set? Already! How awesome...and statistically likely, since I have a lot of them...! But this time it is a newer one, and one of what I think is their best ones in recent years (the Great Lakes toob is of course my favorite, maybe I'll get to it someday). In this instance, it is the Pelagic Fishes toob from 2019, Safari number 100265. The set features 10 fish, and only fish (in the broad 'swimming vertebrates sense)…

Vault Tales 244 Run the Set OUMCRAFT ‘Life’ Game figures part 3

Way back in April of 2021, I received a package from Thailand featuring a number of prehistoric animal models meant to be used with the Life game by designer Oumcraft. I detailed the figures I received in that package in two parts; the first featured the Cambrian, Ordovician and Silurian animals; the follow up looked at the Devonian age fish that I received. I had mentioned then, that I only received some of the figures, as others were still being…

Vault Tales 232 Run the Set Kaiyodo UHA Chocolasaurs Dinotales Series 1 PART 2

Part 2 - Palaeozoic and Cenozoic Figures! And we're back with Part 2, featuring the best Palaeozoic and Cenozoic figures the Dinotales Series 1 had to offer (not really a surprise if you've looked at the banner)! Another nine figures, after the 15 from the first part. In case you missed it, the first post featuring the dinosaurs and other Mesozoic animals can be found here. There are some really cool ones in this lot though. Let's go from geologically…

Vault Tales 228 FigureFrenzy Futabasaurus, Salmon, Velociraptor, Xenacanthus, Teleoceras

More random figures. Possibly more random than normal! Even a figure that was customized (not the first one I've discussed, I think. But a weirder one). Mostly prehistoric animals though. That's something. Playmates Dinosaur King Futabasaurus This pattern on Futabasaurus is almost a meme among early figures of the animal. Not sure how that came to pass. It's about 1:60 scale, close to the diver. Visiting another Dinosaur King figure again already? Yup, another wave 2 figure, and one that…

Vault Tales 221 FigureFrenzy Rutiodon, Helicoprion, Reef shark, Jackal, Postosuchus

Back to some random figures, but as a group, ones that I am overall pretty fond of! I think you'll agree that they're all collection worthy for various reasons. ActionProducts I-Dig-Sharks Helicoprion The position of the tooth whorl kind of gives away the age of the figure, although it might have just been wrong! The figure is roughly 1:120, so the diver is too big (or it's a small Helicoprion) First up, a strange, short-lived figure from a company known…
