FigureFocus 311 Yowies Lost Kingdom Imperial Ammonite

Let's take a quick look at an early ammonite toy, the Imperial Ammonite from Yowies Lost Kingdom Series B (I did a Run-The-Set that earlier). Don't need to say much about it, but it is a neat little figure. It's hard to fathom just how big some of these mollusks could be--as it was labelled as the Imperial Ammonite Tropaeum imperator, the scale is about 1:39, so pretty close to the diver. The first thing that can be noted is…

Vault Tales 268 FigureFrenzy Ichthyosaurus, Opabinia, Ammonite, Stethacanthus

All prehistoric! All aquatic! All kinds of different taxonomic groups. And wildly diffefrent companies. Just a small glimpse of the range of figures I have I guess. Dinotales Series 2 Ichthyosaurus More Dinotales figures! This time a classic prehistoric animal, Ichthyosaurus! And a really great representation of the animal. It's about 1:38 scale so the diver is way too small. We'll start with a figure from a series that, of course, I've looked at many times before, from Kaiyodo Dinotales…

Vault Tales 201 FigureFrenzy Apatosaurus, Carcharodontosaurus, Saurosuchus, Concavenator, Belemnites

Another bunch of figures today, all prehistoric ones! And a wide range of them...the funny part is that the largest figure is the smallest (and the only not-reptile!) And a strange assortment of brands and styles! CollectA MiniBox A1102 Apatosaurus One of those classic dinosaur figures, this was the first Apatosaurus made by CollectA for their mini box sets. It's about 1:192, so that man is way too large (it's all I have!). First up we have one of the…

Vault tales 162 Run the Set Agatsuma Strange Predators

Well here we have another Run the Set and as the name suggests, it is strange. From a Japanese company (of course) called Agatsuma Entertainment, they apparently are mostly a company that makes character merchandise. But for whatever reason, in 2011 or so they decided to create a set of (almost) entirely aquatic predators. But not like we would normally see--your sharks, your orcas, your seals and rays and whales. No, they went with 'Strange' Predators and wow, did they…

Vault Tales 147 ToyTrio Mole cricket, Whelk, Slit-shell snail

I seem to have found a way to create themes for the trio posts...today is super unusual for me--it's all invertebrates. Not a group that I have a lot of although some weirder ones are in my collection--I do have at least one whole shelf of mostly prehistoric ones after all! Bin figure large Whelk snail I'm going to speed past this one...it's a bin figure, part of a large set of marine animals. The actual scale, like the species,…
