FigureFocus 311 Yowies Lost Kingdom Imperial Ammonite

Let's take a quick look at an early ammonite toy, the Imperial Ammonite from Yowies Lost Kingdom Series B (I did a Run-The-Set that earlier). Don't need to say much about it, but it is a neat little figure. It's hard to fathom just how big some of these mollusks could be--as it was labelled as the Imperial Ammonite Tropaeum imperator, the scale is about 1:39, so pretty close to the diver. The first thing that can be noted is…

FigureFrenzy 295 Aye-Aye, Beipiaosaurus, Chuckwalla, Lobsters

We're just going all over the place this time. Kind of a little of this, a little of that. Sometimes things are really, really random! Nayab/FUL/Lontic Lobsters and Spiny Lobster A few marine crustaceans from Nayab (or whatever). Two different sizes of Spiny Lobster and a more conventional Lobster. It's difficult to estimate scales, but the lobster is maybe around 1:4 so the diver is too small for that, but of course these animals come in many sizes I'm going…

Vault Tales 264 Monterey Bay and Wild Safari Giant Squid

We're going to look at a pair of figures from Safari Ltd today, two different takes on the same animal. I am speaking of their larger figures of the Giant Squid (the photo and title probably gave that away...!) I decided to look at the two since they are from the same maker, within about 6 years of each other, and overall are quite similar. Obviously, size is a major difference, but there are some other notable variations. A look…

Vault Tales 255 FigureFrenzy Betta, Capybara, Catfish, Wiwaxia, Mammoth+Smilodon

Another FigureFrenzy! And it's going to be very random...all over the place, really. Little of everything. Although they're all small, and all part of larger sets so...unifying features? Marmit World of Tropical Fish Betta A very familiar pet fish, a Betta or Siamese Fighting Fish in what might be the most unusual possible colour...a pearlescent white with a red lateral line? I'm not even sure if this is a real pattern. A more characteristic blue or red would have made…

Vault Tales 245 FigureFrenzy Sea Cucumber, Sea Star, Pipefish, Garden eels, Goby

It's been a while since I did a random figure frenzy, but here we are! Five figures from varying companies, of varying quality. And all represent marine animals (although I don't think they coexist...) FUL (Nayab?) Sea Cucumbers large & small A couple of Sea Cucumber figures from ta set of small and large marine figures. Let's be honest, not a particularly common animal figure...similar in size, about 1:5 and 1: 4 scale First up, a pair of weird little…

Vault Tales 244 Run the Set OUMCRAFT ‘Life’ Game figures part 3

Way back in April of 2021, I received a package from Thailand featuring a number of prehistoric animal models meant to be used with the Life game by designer Oumcraft. I detailed the figures I received in that package in two parts; the first featured the Cambrian, Ordovician and Silurian animals; the follow up looked at the Devonian age fish that I received. I had mentioned then, that I only received some of the figures, as others were still being…

Vault Tales 238 Run the Set Kaiyodo Poisonous & Venomous Creatures Vol 2

More Japanese figures! Except this one is very, very new! Like, released earlier this year new! I actually only just received it a few weeks ago. And since I was taking photos anyway, I thought I would just go ahead and share it here this week! Two of the figures, the invertebrates in the set. On the left, the Indian Tiger Centipede and on the right, a Japanese Box Jelly. These figures are of course not to scale with the…

Vault Tales 232 Run the Set Kaiyodo UHA Chocolasaurs Dinotales Series 1 PART 2

Part 2 - Palaeozoic and Cenozoic Figures! And we're back with Part 2, featuring the best Palaeozoic and Cenozoic figures the Dinotales Series 1 had to offer (not really a surprise if you've looked at the banner)! Another nine figures, after the 15 from the first part. In case you missed it, the first post featuring the dinosaurs and other Mesozoic animals can be found here. There are some really cool ones in this lot though. Let's go from geologically…

Vault Tales 224 FigureFrenzy Badger, Gharial, Water bug, Black bear, Snapping turtle

Back to another very random bunch of figures. Not sure if there is any particular way I can connect them...perhaps, all of them are living animals that could theoretically cause some kind of harm to people that aren't paying attention? Whatever connects them (it was random) they're all pretty decent models though! Play Visions American Badger A classic figure from a great series--the American badger from Play Visions. As with most PV figures, it is fairly small, about 1:13, close…

Vault Tales 222 FigureFrenzy Allosaurus, Hallucigenia, Pufferfish, Triceratops, Lungfish

Another frenzy of figures! As usual, kind of all over the place. Dinosaurs, fish, weird invertebrates. And all from different companies. For the first time in a while, I think these are also all figures that I currently display! That doesn't always happen! I also just realized that every one of these figures is from a different Japanese series. Which might indicate just how many Japanese models I have! Kaiyodo Dinotales Special Release White Allosaurus The colour of this Allosaurus…

Vault Tales 211 FigureFrenzy Greek Chimaera, Olenoides, Trilobite, Iguana

So today is going to be...brief. Not a whole lot to say about most of these so it's going to be brief. Not everything in the collection is gold...Two different trilobites so that's unexpected! Safari Ltd Mythical Realms Chimaera A very distinct take on the Greek Chimaera. With extra dragon head and wings. Scale is of course meaningless, so let's just put an adventurer from DnD with it. It's probably oversized but again, it's also made up. First up, one…

Vault Tales 201 FigureFrenzy Apatosaurus, Carcharodontosaurus, Saurosuchus, Concavenator, Belemnites

Another bunch of figures today, all prehistoric ones! And a wide range of them...the funny part is that the largest figure is the smallest (and the only not-reptile!) And a strange assortment of brands and styles! CollectA MiniBox A1102 Apatosaurus One of those classic dinosaur figures, this was the first Apatosaurus made by CollectA for their mini box sets. It's about 1:192, so that man is way too large (it's all I have!). First up we have one of the…
