Day two of the Twelve Days of Fishmas! Day one can be found here. The tag for the whole set will be here.
On the first day of Fishmas cladistics gave to me…
- Two orders of Chondrostei
- And a bichir at the base of Actinopterygii
Next up the family tree, the Chondrostei, represented by the modern Sturgeon (Acipenseriformes) and Paddlefish (Polyodontiformes). This clade is the basal (living) representative of the broader ‘Actinopteri’ clade of actinopterygians.
The two figures chosen to represent here are the Beluga Sturgeon from Epoch, and the American Paddlefish from ‘My Favorite Animals’. There are a fair, if not great, number of sturgeon figures out there, but overall paddlefish tend to be custom or very limited figures. I am still lucky to have quite a few. I did look at the Chondrostei figures I have in this post but it might be missing a couple more recent ones.
See you for the third day!..
