Hello friends, this is the figure of American Bison (Bison bison) Linnaeus, 1758 of Papo - Wild Life. Total lenght is 200mm. This figure was relased in 2003 and it is retired currently. A bison has a shaggy, long, dark brown winter coat, and a lighter weight, lighter brown summer coat. As is typical in ungulates, the male bison are slightly larger than the female and, in some cases, can be considerably heavier. American bison live in river valleys, and on prairies and plains. Typical habitat is open or semi-open grasslands, as well as sagebrush, semi-arid lands and scrublands. Some lightly wooded areas are also known historically to have supported bison. Bison will also graze in hilly or mountainous areas where the slopes are not steep.

Papo is a young brand in the world of figures if we compare them wit Safari or Schleich, but they have a important place in the world currently. They are famous for their figures of felines and dinosaurs. This figure is one of the first replicas of mammals of this brand.  The sculpture is nice with a good details of its hair. The color of this figure is not bad, but will be better ^-^. Proportions are nice. Charging position is one of the best points of its. Definetly it is a beautiful figure from my point of view but the new Bison of this brand is better. My father bought this figure in a store of Jerez de la Frontera (Spain) 6 years ago ^-^.

I've only seen this one in old catalogues so far, thanks for posting, Jetoar! :) While it's less detailed its pose looks more realistic and is not as strange as that of Papo's current version (very static with the head held as high as the hump).

Yes, the new bison is detailer than this, but it is very static figure, so the stand of the oldest is better  ^-^. The best option will be a combination of the two figures  ^-^.
