Hello friends, this is the figure of Toco Toucan (Ramphastos toco) Statius Muller, 1776 of Schleich. Total lenght is 50mm and nowadays is retired. It can be found in a wide range of semi-open habitats such as woodland, savanna and other open habitats with scattered trees, Cerrado, plantations, forest-edge, and even wooded gardens. It is mainly a species of lowlands, but occurs up to 1750 m near the Andes in Bolivia. Toco Toucan eats fruit using its bill to pluck them from trees, but also insects, frogs, small reptiles, small birds and their eggs and nestlings. This species is the largest toucan and the largest representative of the order Piciformes.

Schleich released long time ago diferents species of tropical birds but this great collection currently, have been retired.  I think that this figure is a great replica of this animal. Colors are very nice and the sculpture, stand and details are very nice also. I think that currently it is a beautiful and great figure for collectors of birds in general but, I think that Bullyland ( version of this bird is better.  I bought this figure in a store in Jerez( Spain ) two weeks ago, the same day that I bought the Tiger Shark  ^-^.
