Honestly, my bookmarks go directly to unread since last visit, so I don't even remember what the original entry page looks like!

Which is why it might be more important to make the entry page more enticing to new visitors. Veterans like you know what they are doing and where they are going.

I'd still like to hear from newer members on this.

Back to normal now. Thanks for your patience during the experiment!  :)

I've made some modifications to the forum and it should be mobile-friendly now. Except for the title banner, which will stretch off the side of small screens. @bmathison1972, I'm afraid we might have to rethink our approach to the banner size and design if the ATF is to be dragged into the modern age...

That's fine, just let me know a good format and I or we will come up with something

Will do! I'm testing things out on the DTF and will see how it goes there first. :)

So, the image size that seems to fit nicely on most mobile screens is 330px wide.

I'm thinking we could get around this limit by having images of animals as a faint repeating background image, so it doesn't matter if it gets cropped off on mobile view. The banner itself could then just be the title. We could change the animals in header background each year...

Great idea, then the banner is responsive. Though the current one is really nice! Some sacrifice for modern times  ;D
To beetle or not to beetle.

Indeed, compromises must be made if the site is to work on mobiles and desktops. ^-^

OK, done. It will take a while for the background to show (depends on server updating the cache). But, once it shows, play around with resizing your browser or viewing the forum on mobile, and let me know what you think.  :)

Works great!

A png-file with transparant background wil show 'Animal Toy Forum'without black square.

If you have the font /type for me I can make it  if you want.

I work as a graphic designer so if I can be of help for the forumin that way, let me know

Thanks for offering to help. Actually, I did make the png file transparent, but forgot to remove the black background layer I'd put in while working to see the white dropshadow! Haha, oops. :-[ Updating title file text immediatey...

bmathison1972

the thumbnail images are not showing under Walkarounds section. Not sure if you were aware and this is temporary or a change, but thought I'd let you know!

Thanks, I'll try and fix it...
Edit - I think it is an incompatibility with the mobile-friendly theme. We will have to live without the thumbnail images for now, until I can work out a solution.  :(

Speaking of mobile...when I view on my phone the images are very large and hard to appreciate in one field.
Not sure if I'm in the wrong mode (desktop vs mobile) or what. I don't see any links for other viewing options when on my phone.

OK, I'll take a look at that, the images should resize to fit the screen width (as they do on DTF) so there is obviously something wrong here.
