That yellow white and green lizard at the top looks interesting. Anybody recognize it?

I don't. Looks kinda salamandery to me. I'd sell it if someone's interested.
I like turtles.

The costal grooves and toes are definitely salamander like, but the pattern doesn't represent any species I can find

stemturtle

Salamanders have 4 toes on their forelimbs, 5 on their hindlimbs. An exception is the four-toed salamander, Hemidactylium scutatum, which has 4 toes on its hindlimbs. Lizards have 5 toes for each limb. The tetrapod in question is probably a lizard.

looks like the very rare and reclusive lizamander!

In all joking, the sculptor clearly drew from both. But I agree, a lizard was probably the initial intent (the costal grooves may just be wrinkles, and the tail doesn't look like anything real). That being said, even Safari got the toes thing wrong at least once (extra pair of toes on the Cave Dwellers TOOB olm).

Ah yes, the all too common chimaera model! Thanks everyone for their input on the figure.

No idea if anyone's looking for a stuffed lamprey but there's a stuffed lamprey:

And in a similar but also very different vein, here is apparently a taxidermy hagfish (albeit very expensive):

BlueKrono

I collect taxidermy, but if I had that lying around my house I'd get some very strange looks from visitors.

The lamprey is pretty awesome.

That hagfish...less so. I'd imagine preserving their weird skin is quite the challenge

NSD Bashe

That's a fair reaction I suppose; it seemed odd that it was a dried specimen and not a wet one, though it occurs to me maybe it would just dissolve in alcohol?

Saarlooswolfhound

I've seen specimens of both lamprey and hagfish preserved in liquid (not sure what kind but I'd suspect alcohol) and dried/vacuum-packed like you would with jerky. The taxidermied hagfish is a bit cringeworthy... but the lamprey stuffed animal is sort of cute. ;)

very pricey but an interesting curiosity based seemingly on recent events:

That's exactly what that is. For a while Play Visions partnered with National Geographic to make sets. Sometimes just minis, sometimes a large figure with smaller ones. This was around 1997 to 2002

They'd also tag larger figures as Habitat Earth.

And yes, sometimes they also sliced the figures and made them magnetic. We have or had a couple, those were around until at least 2006
