That box is better because it actually uses the figures to name them.
The Discovery Science set used real animal photos, making the figures at best aspirational

that being said, some of the names are still wrong!

Gwangi

I skipped this set because of the general poor quality of the toys but I might have to reconsider due to the species diversity.

That's the only value. I have thoughts on the roughshark

The 'carpet shark' has always been a challenge because it's not really very wobbegong... but can't remember if there's a better option. Also don't remember what the small sharks were originally called.

I'd forgotten I had some very specific thoughts before on both sets:

I always liked your idea about the "carpet shark" being a blind shark- I have mine as that in my collection! And think you are spot on that that "sevengill" is really a Glyphis

I've always had a bit of a soft spot for these figures. Terrible paint quality and meh sculpts compared to your Collectas, Safaris, etc, but I really appreciate the angular roughshark, pyjama shark, and birdbeak dogfish in particular; pretty decent representations of some super obscure sharks that add a lot of diversity to shark collections!  :)

I still appreciate the diversity. Some of them are still the only ones out there!

It was the best I could do with some of those!
