It's been a few days so I reposted another of my older FaunaFigures ones, this time the Innovative Kids 'Magical Cretaures':

https://monstertoyblog.com/magical-creatures-innovative-kids-groovy-tubes/

Yeah, they're also a little shaky, but very different.

I mentioned in a comment on the review but to expand a bit further. The Kenner Aliens toyline is a fun little anomaly, originally based on a Saturday morning cartoon idea called "Operation: Aliens". Development of the cartoon was shelved after the disappointing performance of Alien 3, but the toys ended up being produced (and released with comic books explaining the story).

It may seem weird to market an R-rated property to children, but this was around the same era that we saw Saturday morning cartoons based on things like Rambo, Robocop, Little Shop of Horrors, Beetlejuice, Police Academy, Toxic Avenger, and other not-for-children live action movies.

Hmm. Some of them, certainly. Maybe not all of them. That said, I can't actually think of a cryptid that wouldn't also count as folklore.

I ask because I noticed that Griffin tagged his Jersey Devil reviews under both cryptid and folklore while I only tagged my mothman reviews under cryptid. And I agree with you, I cannot think of a cryptid that wouldn't also count as folklore.

Then I'll bulk add all Cryptid reviews to the Folklore category. :)

Also, I noticed that you added the sasquatch tag to my review but the other bigfoot reviews don't have one.

Yeah, I noticed you mentioned sasquatch in your intro, so added it as a tag. I think it makes sense to add that tag to all other bigfoot reviews, right?

I would think so. I prefer the name Sasquatch over Bigfoot anyway.

I edited the title to put the monster name first and brands second.

That makes more sense...

It's just to make the format consistent with the other blogs. It effects the order of the reviews as the appear in alphabetised lists, so it's more than just aesthetic. :)

There is one type of "cryptid" I know of that probably wouldn't count as folklore, for instance the "untouchable bathysphere fish" observed by William Beebe; they are considered to have cryptid status since they haven't been proven to actually exist but being solely known from scientific observations I don't believe would be categorized as folklore.  Also they sadly have not yet been made into figures as far as I know so this might be irrelevant until they are.

I don't think that would really count as a monster either. But I should amend my statement. I don't think any cryptid that qualifies as a monster wouldn't also count as folklore. Thylacines are now cryptids too, but certainly not monsters.
