First and foremost, Happy Halloween!
I am asking for your opinions on what is the most realistic animal replica brands? For me it is CollectA, and as the owner of multiple CollectA figures (my beloved Delmar the sea lion included), I can definitely say there is a lot of attention-to-detail and natural coloration in their replicas.
On the other hand, Safari LTD. is a bit cartoonish, Schleich can have inaccurate porportions at times, and Mojö is somewhat oversimplified.
Now what are your opinions?
I'm a huge fan of South American wildlife.

In general, Japanese brands like Kaiyodo are probably the high bar for many animals, and Yujin can be as well.

I agree. I've owned some Kaiyodo figures.

I like CollectA quite a bit. Kaiyodo and related brands are very anatomically accurate and cover a stunning diversity of species. Just a smaller scale than CollectA and Safari.
I like turtles.

I think some lines of Ikimon/Kitan Club are far more realistic than many Kaiyodo.
For western brands, it depends largely of the type of model, but I think CollectA and Safari LTD are some of the most realistic, especially for antelopes and sharks respectively. Papo nails the big cats.

Most Japanese brands are too small for my liking or require assembly.

CollectA is great at ungulates. And Papo is great with invertebrates and smaller organisms.

The question was about realistic models. If size matters, all of the companies make figures that are much smaller than reality  ;D

I was waiting for comments to trickle in, but the truth is the original question is not quantifiable. There is no one 'Most Realistic Brand'. Most have their pluses and minuses and the question needs to be asked at the species level. For any species, if one was to take into account the sculpture, posture, proportions, and paint job, probably every (major) company will have at least one example that it's the best of its respective species. Sometimes for no other reason than uniqueness  ;)

No one company for every figure, species, or even taxa, but to my eye, Kaiyodo and Kitan/Ikimon are, broadly speaking, the clear choices.

If we wanted an objective answer, it would end up being the Safari and AAA figures that were cast from specimens. I'd love if Safari reissued those someday, I get they aren't fast sellers relative to their size so they don't make sense for stores to stock, but I bet they'd do gangbusters selling online...
