Diversity of Life on Earth - Advanced Giant Mantis and Short-horned Grasshopper:

1. Tenodera sinensis, green*
2. Tenodera sinensis, brown*
3. Acrida cinerea, green
4. Acrida cinerea, brown

*note, although these are marketed as T. sinensis, they probably represent T. aridifolia if Bandai is using an outdated nomenclature (which they have on a couple occasions).

attention @brettnj @sphyrna18

Blaine, do you know if these are going to be life-size or not?  I haven't been keeping up with Bandai's releases and can't remember which figures are and which are not typically life-size.  Thanks for your help.

@sphyrna18 - hey Chad, these are going to be larger than 1:1. I can check the link when I get home tonight for specifics, but they are certainly larger than 1:1
I appreciate that!  I figured they would be, just as the Locusta migratoria DOLOE Advanced figures were larger than 1:1, but maybe these will be close enough.  Thanks for the info!

I plan on getting the green Acrida; if I remember correctly, in-hand pics show them to be about 10 cm, maybe a little longer.

I think the Mini Insects 2, which were all orthopteroids, were at or close to 1:1: https://animaltoyforum.com/blog/insects-02-diversity-of-life-mini-collection-by-bandai/

Yeah, that would definitely be a little larger than 1:1.  I have the Mini Insects 2 set, which are indeed very nicely 1:1.  And I obviously have the Yujin Acrida figure that is life-size.  These just look pretty good, as well.  I may still pick them up just because haha

Sim

I don't want to offend anyone when I say that I don't understand the appeal of endless stag beetle and rhinoceros beetle figures.  I guess they are very popular in Japan, but I don't understand why.  The males have horns to fight each other with and some have interesting colours, but is there something I've overlooked?
